If this happens to others then I know it's a vb issue..

I have had this happen to me some time back.. Then it went away.. I figured it was a cookie issue

It's happening to me too now, because I'll click to submit and the site is taking so long to load that I think I didn't click it and do it again. Anyway, my main issue is the site is dragging all kinds of ass. I assume that's a host issue and needs to be taken up with gobbleaddy.

I'd put it on the host, I can't even get forumrunner to connect to the site, and my mac is running horribly slow on it.

ping tests are high 300ms to low 500ms vs 70ms to my hosting server or 19ms to google.

something either going bad at the host's data center or somewhere in the path to it from my guess.

I'll look into this tonight.. We did have issues with the Facebook app not working right and screwing us up. This was a issue with fb and gd.

Screen Gurus,

I no longer have on my Laptop screen Rugged Rock's Sponsor banner. However, it does show on other computer screens I use. Is there some sort of coding difference with it and other sponsor banners that my laptop might find incorrect or not interpret correctly and therefore not show it? It's been happening for a while (months) and I just figured out what it was.

Maybe different screen resolutions puts it in a different spot.

It's not on the screens at all. For example, at the top of this page shows 4Wheel, Calmini, Nisstech, RLC, Graveyard and ORPP. I'm on my laptop. If I go to another computer Rugged Rock will show up after ORPP. It's only on my laptop that this happens. Now my laptop has extra security on it by my choice to stop crap from happening. Just trying to see what is different about RR.

Ah. Didn't know if it was getting moved around and you missed it, or if it just wasn't there at all. That is odd.

That is odd... Some of it has to be the screen size.. Im about to make some changes on the sponsors stuff anyways...
More random ads vs all in your face at once.. But nothing intrusive

I don't see Rugged Rocks banner either. Is it possible that AdBlockPlus is blocking it?

EDIT: Yep. If I disable ABP, the Rugged Rocks banner is there.

Once I disabled ABP and then reenabled it, RR banner is still visible. But it was not there before I disabled AdBlock. Weird.

Using Chrome, BTW.

It has to do with the way the files are stored. Most of the sponsor's banners are stored in Amish's photobucket account, in a directory named 'XterraNation'. The RR banner is stored in Dave's account with a directory of 'XN Ads'. The 'Ads' portion of the directory name is triggering my ADB to block the image.

Do note that I'm using two filters: Fanboy's (enabled by default) and EasyList

That's it exactly. I'm using the same two filters.

Thanks Todd..

This has been the only major complaint of the site I have read on "Other" forums..

I personally don't mind a few sponsor ads at all, because I know the costs end that forums have to deal with.

Most anybody that ever complains about sponsor ads, has no idea how much it actually costs to keep up the little playground they like to play in, lol. (Nor do they have any idea how much of your life it consumes, keeping everything working right and playing nice together.)

Now, just crappy random ads that bombard you, (just to try to make a profit), are a different story all together.

I'm not saying this to be a pain or argumentative, or anything else, but, if you need sponsors to cover the cost of the forum's hosting account and bandwidth, you REALLY need to change hosting companies. For what I paid for my lifetime membership I could pay for 3-4 months of my hosting account (4.95/mo) and it's unlimited bandwidth, unlimited storage, unlimited email addresses. The Forum license for the version being used isn't much cheaper than a 5 year pack on my hosting (which gets you that cheaper pricing).

I fully support having sponsors and paid users, and, I don't mind the ads at all, since they're honestly pretty handy links to places I like to shop when I have the funds available to do so. My suggestion for sponsor ads, make it a grid at the bottom of the page labelled "sponsors". if not for everyone, make it that way for the paid members, as we sponsored the site ourselves.

That being said, that's my 0.02Â¥, and I don't honestly care if it isn't listened to at all, because, at least over here the users aren't total a**hats, nor are the admins/moderators. I like most of the people here, and don't dislike anyone on here so, I'm glad I've spent some $ to sponsor the site in my little part, and, if funds become available, I'll send another donation in too.

Keep up the good work on the site, and I'm glad to see renovations are being done.

For a suggestion: How about looking into something that's got an IRC based chat, so that when everyone's around, we can all sit and BS freely. If you need help on that, let me know and I'll do what I can to help with integration, IRC setup, and support on that aspect.
