Get the one at 550?

My personal best is 650 yds, took me 2 rounds to adjust and nailed it on the third. (with my ruger m77 in .204- one fast and flat shooting mother!) it's get a csbelas 6-20 power Alaskan guide scope- which is supposedly made by leupold- and is set up for varmint hunting in the Sandhills (coyote, bobcat, etc.) so I'm looking at a rock river arms .223 with probably a reflex sight for closer quarters/quick target acquisition. Because I've had a problem with coyotes gettin in and out before acquiring them with such a large scope when not in the open range.

oh yeah, 5 rounds out of 6 were on target on the 550m one...with a 3-9x40 scope ;) mind you, the white spot on the right is the 125m target, and the black down by it is a buddy that was spotting shot placement since I haven't gotten off of my butt and gotten a new spotting scope yet....and the 550m target was the size of a 1lb tannerite tub....so, pretty friggin tiny at that range.

my personal best....was probably on a closed range while in the army...and it was a door off of a hummer that was sitting at about 1800m from the firing line, and it was getting scrapped so they told me I could shoot at it, so I did, with a .50BMG, and was 3/3 on target (easy enough to tell, since there were 3 bullet holes all within about 2" of each other, and those were the only bullet holes ;) ) with a personally owned weapon, I think 1100-1200m with a SR-25 .308 would have been it... 650yds with such a small caliber is pretty impressive

Awesome! And yeah, it's only pushing a 32gr bullet so wind is huge shooting that thing. I have a .270WSM that can reach out there but I've never had the opportunity. Now it's killin me to get out and try!

Finally got my AR ready to go. Here is a picture of it with the ruger single six my dad got my for my 21st

PSA Upper and barrel (1:7 chrome lined)

DPMS lower and parts kit

Red X Arms BCG and CH

Magpul furniture and MBUS

The Ruger has a hogue grip on it, fits my hands a lot better than the original grips. They were too dang small. It is a 6.5" barrel

Took them both to the indoor range today. AR is shooting low at 25 yds- which I don't care about as I will be sighting it in at an outdoor range in a week for 100 meters probably. I just wanted to test it out to see how she ran. I need to practice with the pistol a lot more. It's shooting pretty good I think, it's hard to tell when I haven't been the most consistent shooter. When I get better i think I'll take the time to try and sight it in. Until then, I'm gonna burn as much powder as possible :D

Is that rear stock a Magpul MOE? If so, when you have the $ to spare, look into the CTR, and maybe a cheek riser. The lock on the CTR is fantastic and the riser, for some people, is a great addition, for others, it's a waste.

All in all, very sharp looking AR...if you're gonna be shooting a lot, and have an iOS device, look into an app called ballistic, it's great for helping you do all of the math and such to be first shot dead on regardless of range, provided your firearm can hit it.

Yeah, it's an MOE. I'll have to look in to the CTR, and the cheek riser. I'll definitely check that app out, too. Thanks for the heads up on that!

This thread is in desperate need of some more pics.

I have some hand me down stuff, nothing too interesting. A bolt action 12 gauge that came from Sears in the '60s and a 7mm Mauser built in Spain in 1926. Along with a .22 and a .410.

Anyways here's my hard earned cash
Benelli Nova 12gauge, S&W M&P 15 Sport, S&W M&P 9mm, S&W Shield 9mm, S&W 442 .38.

Like the 15 Sport- I think its a good deal for $650. But if I knew then what I know now I would've got the Magpul addition I think. I want to add Magpul furniture eventually anyways and I'd have an upper with a dust cover and forward assist. I may get a new upper one day. Also plan on adding an Aimpoint or EOtech red dot down the line...

Just love the way they fit in my hand. Almost bought a Walther PPQ before I bought my full size 9, just didn't know if I could get used to that different mag release.

The Walther mag release is different but so easy to get accustomed to.

I'll get some pics of the Remington tomorrow. For now, I'll show off my plain Springfield 1911.

It may be plain, but it's all you need. I love a 1911, and I'll probably get a Springfield. Just gotta decide if I want nickel or blued. Decisions, decisions...

Ammo availability and cost of ammo.

Very nice Tim!!

Good thinking! Does she have a CHL or going to get one? I plan on getting my CHL in 2013.

around here the .40 and .9 ammo is about the same price and pretty avaible reason i chose the .40 besides the power of them both.

Nope, no point yet, teachers can't even have in cars, to have a firearm within 1000' of a school is a felony as I recall.

That's a crying shame!
Utah is one of only 6 states where it's allowed for teachers to CCW.
How many school shootings? How many accidental shootings by teachers? ZERO!

Most all CCW instructors are now giving free training classes to teachers and are overwhelmed with participants!

Ditto, 9 makes a nice shock cavity, .40 makes a gaping hole the size of the 9's shock cavity ;)

Ah, but they both will stop a bad guy.

AZ, not here man. So many people go with the 40, probably for that "gaping hole", that the quantity in stock is much less than the the 9.

With the recent political stir, lots of ammo and guns aren't available. 1yr waiting list for an AR etc.

True yes, however, a 9mm has a better chance of over penetration...for home defense, do a lot of looking into ballistic tests on the rounds you're considering, very important choice if you have anyone else in the house...
