I've never camped there. It takes me about as long to set up my tent as it does to go back to my house from there.

Everyone will definitely have to come back for the seXTERRA meet and greet in August. All trails should be open then so I can show you around some you won't get to see this time. If anyone is interested there's a lot of hiking and bike trials there, not to mention the Cumberland Trail goes through Prentice Cooper.

If anyone coming from the Nashville/M'boro area wants to go to the park before/instead of meeting at Wal Mart or whatever location you choose, you can save a lot of time by taking the Hwy 28 exit and heading towards Whitwell. When you come to the intersection at Hwy 283, turn right and you'll go up the opposite side of Suck Creek Mountain. That's actually a good way to go anyway from there if you don't mind curvy mountain roads. It keeps you away from Chattanooga traffic and construction.

I have a 2wd with street tires. I went last August on said tires, didn't really have a huge problem. I only needed help once. It was a good incline. It was a little wet, it rained that week. I had a great time. I will try to go. Depends on the wife and plans...........

When I was there on Memorial day (I'll have a new video up when I get my computer fixed) everything was open up to Pot Point Rd. The main road was gated past that. You won't be able to take Dry Branch around to the bluff like we did last time but can still hit Snooper's Rock for the amazing view and Haley Road and all that. The good news is they're done logging and Persimmon Branch is reopened so you can hit that one if you like. It's an out and back trail that crosses a small creek with smooth rock bottom. If you haven't been there before be sure to check the map as there are a few turn offs. I ran it all the way in 2wd on Memorial Day then Cody drove back out for his very first time driving off road. We saw a deer and several turkeys that day. We also cooked some hot dogs by the creek and drained a couple of battery packs in our Traxxas Slash 4x4 Ultimate.

They do have "No Alcohol" signs as you enter but as long as you're not littering, getting loud or drinking on the trail the rangers there are pretty relaxed about it. They fully understand frosty beverages and camping tend to go together. They enforce DUI but the worst I've ever heard about drinking in camping areas was a ranger ask a group to keep the beer drinking out of view of some families with children.

What I failed to mention in all this was that the 20th (next Thursday) would have been mine and my (recent) ex-fiance's 3rd anniversary, and we were planning on going camping anyway....so you boys are going to get a dose of "forget-about-her-and-wheel" medicine.

I've gone wheeling more than once to forget about painful memories for a while. It's some of the best therapy.

The only thing better would be if the range were open. I have several hundred rounds of 5.56 and 6.5 Grendel just waiting to be fired.

I encourage you to try the 6.5 Grendel if you build another one. Mine has a 24" barrel and scope for long range, but my friend has a 12" barrel Grendel and it is AWESOME as well.

If the range is open next time we do this I'll bring my 1937 K98 Mauser. Twenty rounds through that makes my right arm go numb for an hour. I like that.

starting the install of my stage 3 clutch in about 10 minutes. hope this goes smoothly. first time I've ever put a clutch in anything...

It better....I'm sitting at Nissan of Murfreesboro waiting to get my oil changed. I'm about 300mi overdue, and today was the only day I could get it done. I'd do it myself, but I can't do it this cheap. $19.95 for OEM filter, oil, and them to tell me I need belts, valve cover gaskets, and my rear main is leaking? Yeah.

Oh hello, yoga pants!

One of my favorite lines ever from a movie has got to be...

"The battle of the sexes is over and we won, we won as soon as women starting pole dancing for exercise."

If the weather is nice next weekend, I'll probably sleep in my hammock but if not, I'll probably have to sleep in my truck. My tent got destroyed during a storm a few months ago lol

Ok, so what do we need to bring? Beer is a must, I know that much. Do they allow fires up there? Any grilling?

All of this is allowed. Fires are allowed in designated areas only of course. Like all parks they ask that you use local wood for fires. I take a small propane grill so I can cook in the usual places or trail side if I see a place I want to spend some time.

I'll have a propane stove, and I'll be happy to grab a bag of charcoal for a grill. I only plan on cooking one meal, and that's supper on Saturday night..I have a special "campfire marinade" for burgers.

So far it's just the 3 of us camping, right? Chuck will be there, but I don't know if he's going to camp with us or not. Now that I'm by myself, I'm not sure if I'll even throw the tent up...I might just sleep in my truck...I don't know. LoL.

Yodamonster is probably going to go. I doubt he'll be camping though since he lives here on the same mountain as me. He's only been there twice in his Frontier but has done some exploring on an ATV.

I will bring a small propane grill (no charcoal needed) and yeah I agree about the one meal. I will be sleeping in the truck as well.
