Last night I was able to finish swapping from 4.9 to 5.13 gears, my question is now should I reset the ecu or anything? Or just drive it?

I think drive it, because we can't change our speedometer, regearing could/should put you at the stock ratio, I don't think the computer will know a difference.

but that is just my pennies falling on the floor.

Just drive it, your spedo will be a little off since you are on 33's. it will show a little over what you are actually doing. Just use a GPS to get it adjusted in your head, but you will only be off by like 2-3% so it is nothing to worry about.

The big question is how does it feel off the line??

I haven't really Romped on it yet, but at cruising speed it is in a better power range, I will cruise around some more tonight... I did get into it around 40 mph and it definatley had a lot more pick up

our good friend Danny at Xterra Performance, he works with Steevo at Rugged Rocks, the front is actually 5.14 and those are a genuine Nissan part, the rear is 5.13 from Nitro gear

These your diff gears...ring/pinion gears? Do you have to do both diffs at one time? I could swap my rear gears pretty easily, but no way am I dropping the front again after just doing the Lokka and putting fresh fluid in :)

You can swap them one at a time as long as you don't plan on using 4wd. If the diff gears don't match they'll bind and could cause damage. However if you just want to get the "umphh" back in 2wd, swap it out.

I'd just drive it, see if you can find one of those radar boxes cops leave on the side of the road to see the difference in mph. Shouldn't be that far off. I bet it feels good to have that extra get up and go, back.

You did all the work yourself? Impressive. Most impressive.

I'd be willing to attempt it but I need the particular tools.

As far as the ECU, I don't know that anything has to or can be done. Since we cant do anything about speedo correction. Running 33s with the 5.13 gears should be almost at the stock ratio so your speedo will be a little off.

^^This^^

It's been a while since I've done the math on that combo but I know that it came out to less than 1% less (with 5.14's) than the stock ratio. It may have been less than a half a percent difference, I don't remember. Xterror, I'll bet that your speedo will return to dead nutz accuracy.

Speedo actually has me going 2mph slower then the gps... Not bad though I drive by the garmin always anyhow... Yep did all the work myself, I ended up buying a lot of new tools, lol... It was a learning process but I took my time and followed the fsm and arb instructions and asked for some help from a few xterra veterans for some pointers, drive it 100 miles today and it definatley feels better

Yes diff gears, I did the front one weekend, then the rear a week later, like Xado said you can do them at different times just can't use 4wd...

Honestly the hardest part was removing the pinion bearings, I bought a 12 ton press and a bearing seperator and was able to get them off but I started bending the seperator.... But got the job done... Once it is out and on the bench nothing is very difficult...
