well, I've contemplated going for my CHL a few times, but, it really boils down to being a waste of money for me.

A. my employer says if I carry any weapon, I get to find a new job (this includes my pocket knife).

B. The idea of leaving it in the X is a bit pointless, as I could do that now, leave a loaded mag in the glove box and the pistol under the back seat and I'm legal in most states, BUT, my wife's a teacher, if she picked up the X and took it to school and I'd not taken the firearm out of it, then she's facing federal charges if something happens and it's found that she had a firearm on school grounds.

C. The only time/place I could get any use out of the CHL is when I go camping, and I'm sorry, I'm taking a bigger weapon with me if I'm worried about animals, and as far as a person goes....that's why I have a Cold Steel Recon Tanto that's hair splitting sharp tucked beside my seatbelt release in the X, and my Gerber Mk II survival knife is usually on my hip when I'm out camping or offroading.

The one HUGE reason I actually want to spend the money to get it (and for the wife as well) is in the event something happens at work and I'm harmed, she'll be a very VERY wealthy individual because then the employer had refused me the right to defend myself which I'm licensed by the state (or federal government" if you're lucky enough to get a federal CCP/CHL)

Yes, I'm very lucky that I work for a pro-constitutional company. heck, about 1/2 of us are "packin" everyday. :)

At the same time our shop is in a ruff part of Nashville, two or three summers ago there was a dead body found with in 10 blocks of our shop every month for three months.

Had a Utah CFP for like 20 yrs, since they finally made it available.
Carry a variety, depending on clothing/concealment but primarily a glock 23 in an ankle holster.
Heavier clothing allows me a a kimber ultra carry, IWB.
Lightweight, down to a beretta .32 tomcat in the pocket w/pocket holster.

All with crimson trace lasers.

Shoot competitively weekly (help run and RO it too), and getting back into IPSC too. Also do carbine training classes and will be trying 3-gun shoots in the future.

Yeah, Guns are ok....

CO law states your vehicle is an extension of your home so you can have a loaded firearm inside it. Most CO counties are also open carry but I also have my CCP and have carried everyday everywhere I go for about 4 months now

Ehh in my opinion identifying someone as supporter of the Constitution implies that the possibility of non-supporters is tolerated. Not adhering to our governing set of rights and regulations is not acceptable. There is no other option, there is no other set of laws to live under ;) I'm simply a law abiding citizen that is willing **** up some fool for trying to take what's mine.

Cheers!

agreed, all of the "gun control" nuts are forgetting that the constitution says it's our right to own firearms... of course, in their defense, it doesn't say what kind we can own obviously...

I **REALLY** wanna get a few of these shells to pop into the shotgun and have handy for when some dumb@$$ decides to break into my house...I'd LOVE to see what happens when you shoot someone in the face with a taser shotgun shell ;)

That's not much of a defense. The Constitution states that we are allowed freedom of speech, limiting that freedom to a certain kind of speech would defeat the purpose. A lot is left to common sense. Some things shouldn't be said in public, certain thing need to be conveyed in private. Some weapons shouldn't be carried in public, some weapons need to be used in war. Unfortunately common sense is lost to the general public these days.

Speaking of common sense, if you shoot someone with 00 in the face, I don't think there would be much left to taser.. much less any reason to

the xrep isn't a buckshot round....I'm thinking if I used a non-lethal method, there's less blood/brains/drywall/paint/etc to clean up, and way less questions asked as far as whether or not I perceived a threat, which, as a prior servicemember, I've heard they're a lot harder on as far as the whole "self defense" side, the castle doctrine (at least in texas as of now) doesn't give you the right to shoot someone for breaking in unless you directly fear for your life or the life of someone in your care, and, it's assumed that as a soldier (current or prior) you're more trained in handling a situation before just flat out popping them....that's why if I use the pistol, I'll be going for hip shots to incapacitate instead of head shots to kill if they haven't made it to the hallway where the bedrooms all are. (once you're in the hall, you're dead though)

Ahh ok, I was on my phone earlier and couldn't see the link. Interesting idea, still just not my cup of tea. CO castle doctrine is if they are in your house, they are not wearing a badge, and you didn't invite them... you can kill em. Goes for your vehicle too, although I imagine that one is little more difficult to get away with. Some people argue it is better to incapacitate, others say if you're gonna shoot the guy you'd better keep firing till he's dead. I'm more in line with the keep firing crowd.

if I didn't have the military background/training that I do, I'd agree with you 100%. Actually, I did even with it until I was having a discussion with one of the judges here in town, one of the higher ranked city police officers and a state trooper supervisor about the limitations and border lines of the castle doctrine and the judge pointed out that with my military background, most any judge would refuse to dismiss charges without hearing the case like they would with most people who haven't had any training. Being infantry doesn't help, being specialized infantry makes it worse even. The only thing working in my favor is that I can argue that I've had enough MOUT training that it was sheer instinct to drop him instead of disabling him, but, that'll go to trial unless I'm protecting someone other than myself or my property.

Carry an HK USP .40 everyday and everywhere I go. Gotta love AZ, open carry and no permit for conceal carry required! I do have my CCW from AZ though that way I can carry in many states!

Just got my AZ permit paperwork in the mail I need to get filled out.

Having the non-rez permit for AZ will allow me (UT permit holder) to carry in AZ, NV,NM and KS now.

Really need that, as I routinely cross into NV when out in the Utah west deserts.

Damn you NV for no longer honoring the UT permit!!!

Awesome for you! Turn around time on permits is 3-4 weeks in AZ.

I'll be ordering some kydex here in the next few days to make me a custom holster for my PT840 (Taurus) and then getting it to my "cousin" to have him make me a leather pad to cover the inner edge, then I'll make a kydex clip to hold it to the belt. once I have a way to reliably carry, I'll get off my @$$ and make time (and money) to take the class.

Or....if I end up getting shifted to Iowa, I'll take my DD214 to the local sherriff's office and pick up my CHL for free on the spot and worry about fabbing a holster after.

Hahaha, I assure you it was empty or my finger wouldn't have been there. I put the empty clip in it after checking the chamber. It was brand new straight out of the case and has never been loaded. Still had the trigger condom on it.

My EDC is a S&W M&P9c w/ 2 spare mags and a Ruger LCP w/1 spare mag.

Might start carrying the M&P 45 as my primary once it comes in from Smith. When that happens my M&P9c may replace the LCP as my backup.

first rule of dealing with a weapon is always assume it's loaded!

It was only $15?!?!?!? Wow, the test alone starts at $60 here in TN.

Yeah I'm prior military so I don't have to take a class which cuts out some $$. Then Virginia has a maximum limit of $50 for the permit, and it pretty much falls to the individual counties as to how much they want charge up to the $50. I know for the lady who owns the store up the road it was $45 total when she got hers.

Question for you guys concealed carrying glocks or other striker fired pistols, how worried about an accidental discharge are you?

I read a couple of articles talking about some way of holstering non-hammered pistols, because if you're chambered you can accidentally fire while holstering...

My worry comes up because I'm sending my Taurus back and exchanging it for either an xd or xdm, and the loss of the hammer/change to the striker fired, no physical safety slightly worries me...
