that sucksWent to replace the amazon (hikari I think) headlight bulbs with the Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s. I had the drivers of the old units zip tied to the inner fender/core support area so I went to cut them off and somehow managed to commit a Knife Safety 101 failure and whacked my pinky with the blade. Got it all wrapped up and finished the job, think it is okay but will re-review tomorrow when I feel like I can unwrap it without getting blood everywhere. Sometimes I amaze even myself
Keep an eye on that cover. Mine kept coming loose and I eventually used blue loctite on the bolts and RTV instead of a gasket.View attachment 17743Replaced Diff cover, Diff breather mod next.
I used RTV, and I had a strong guy do the final tightening, I have been checking it daily, weather permitting.Keep an eye on that cover. Mine kept coming loose and I eventually used blue loctite on the bolts and RTV instead of a gasket.
Hopefully the strong guy knew to alternate gradually tightening all the bolts and that the torque spec is only 31 ft lbs... I've heard lots of people snap off those bolts even before getting up to 31.I used RTV, and I had a strong guy do the final tightening, I have been checking it daily, weather permitting.
They will settle. Put some extra weight in the rear for a few days and ride around. Your usual camping load out should be good. IIRC you are not supposed to flex or offroad for several hundred miles till the springs break in. Something to do with setting the grain in the spring steel or something. I'd have to look it up but it seems to me that my XJ OME leaves had that info with them when I bought them. But that's been several years ago.View attachment 17778
Just finished doing leaf packs and shock skids. Now I hurt.
Gained about an inch and a half of lift, which is a bad thing. I’ll have to check, but that might make me unable to get in the garage with the RTT on. It was extremely close before. Hoping they settle down quickly.
Also debating whether to do extended brake lines because there is about nothing left here.

Good idea. I didn’t know that about the break in either. With people freaking out around here regarding gas, I probably won’t do anything off pavement for a bit and might limit travel a little. They will settle. I've actually had several people say they had the same issue. I think mine was a combination of the mag-hytec "lube locker" gasket collapsing and the clear coat under the bolt heads deteriorating.RTV here too... Don't tighten those bolts more than a 1/2 turn past snug. Terry, you are the only one I've ever heard that had that issue.
Looks good! Though you won’t be as easy to spot in the rear view haha.I couldn't take the sight of that chrome Nissan Patrol badge anymore so I got some model paint and a couple tiny brush's and went to town . Probably would've been better sprayed and taped but that'd been a pain in the a$$ with all the nook's and crannie's !! View attachment 17796
Told you. Leave the rubbers off. It's a stupid design. Now that I'm thinking about it. Get new pins and run two upper pins.Replaced the caliper pins on the fronts last night. The bottom pin of both were stuck and couldn’t compress fully. There was still a bit of a catch with the new one, and using pipe cleaners and about half a can of brake cleaner I still couldn’t get it all. It’s better for now but I ordered caliper brackets. Not available locally.
You mean the rubber on the shaft, right? What was Nissan’s intent with that? Just to slow down the compression rate?Told you. Leave the rubbers off. It's a stupid design. Now that I'm thinking about it. Get new pins and run two upper pins.
Yeah. That. I've never seen anything like it before. And it's crap. I left them off of the Titan calipers. Now that I'm thinking about it I'm going to order another set of pins so I can have matching ones. You mean the rubber on the shaft, right? What was Nissan’s intent with that? Looks dope!Paint refresh done, finished rear corner's and popped the step top off and shot some granite grey on just to offset all the black . I thought about white but that would've been overkill . View attachment 17938View attachment 17939And no painter's tape was hurt/abused or ran away during today's refresh !!
