just finished the radiator bypass mod....did it from the bottom, had to get the neighbor's wife to help, thankfully she has girl hands instead of manhands cause the hose clamp for the return line going to/from the transmission (whichever it is) was on the top side and I couldn't get to it at all.

Just mask it off. Cutting them off would be crazy unless you're planning on cutting them off so that you can bolt them back on properly.

nah, cutting them off so that I can properly coat the entire slider, they vibrate and make contact with the bottom of the pinch seam on the body, so, they need to be fully coated and welded on in the correct position, instead of making contact with the bottom of the body. I don't like the idea of them being welded on, but, at the same point, if they're welded on, they're much stronger that way than if they're bolted on....and for some of the stupid stuff I've done (landed the entire weight of the X on the driver's side slider, a misjudging of the side of a trail resulted in slipping and slamming the whole rig onto the slider and then the tires made contact again....(I thought I was gonna die or at worst have to change the seat and my pants, but, I came away from it fine....)

Are they the rugged rock sliders?

nope, a local buddy made em for me....they're 7/16" thick 2x3 or 2x4 steel tubing for the main part and then same wall round tube for the step...step took the hard landing I mentioned above....which btw was only a drop of about 4-5'

ran the wiring and switch for my hella 500's that I picked up off of a user over at TNX...they *should* be in tomorrow hopefully, and if they are, I'll be getting a mount fabbed up immediately and finishing the install, just have to run their hot wire to the relay, ground them, and mount them and they'll be done.

(they're going behind my grill)

purchased a blue sea fuseblock and a regular 6 circuit fuse strip and some push button on/off switches for the upcoming re-wiring of the hellas and installation of wiring for the other lights for the roof rack, gonna make sure the wiring is done right...hard wiring the CB in when I put these in too, no more cig lighter plug for the CB....

Fed the pig today...58.00 to fill it at 3.29/gal. Also stopped by harbor freight and grabbed a few things for the upcoming aftermarket fuseboxes to be installed. Grabbed a pair of the rubber "step grip" mats and cut em and stuffed em in where the sliders were vibrating against he pinch seam, now it's nice and quiet again!

You have a 2nd gen, right? I'd be interested in seeing how you do the fuses, this calls for a how-to if you're doing it for 2nd gen.

And I'll be filling it up with gas tonight after work.....not too excited about it but still cheaper than what my ST used to cost me...

changed the old as$ plugs out for Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion set. It may be my imagination but it seems to have a bit more pep. Considering the old plugs smelled like strait gas, maybe my MPG will be better.

Gave her a bath and noticed I have a factory plug for an e-fan. Need to run out with a volt meter and see if it actually works.

yes, 3.29. if you have a smartphone, go get an app called "poynt" it's a great gas price finder...as well as other stuff....in amarillo gas ranges from 3.29 to 3.49/gal depending on what gas station you go to....though, the ONE that charges 3.49/gal is pure unleaded not ethanol blend...some say it runs better, I've never noticed a difference so, I won't be spending $0.20/gal extra to get their fuel plus the cost of driving 7 miles across town to fill up when the station that's 7 blocks away is 3.29 if you use your debit card instead of a credit card...

anyway...for the X....going outside and measuring to get the neighbor to cut me some pieces of strap steel to mount my Hella 500's on since they came in last night, hopefully I'll get them installed on lunch....I won't hold my breath though....

See, my problem is that I try to use Mobil fuel only...we have a lot of Irving stations around here, and my X runs like absolute shiite on their gas, as does my wife's Focus. In fact, every car I've had that I've filled up at an Irving station has sputtered and lost at least 4mpg's, so I avoid them like the plague.

There's also Sunoco, but they're at least $0.01 more expensive since they're right off the highway. There's Hess and Pride but they're both in the busiest sections of the "city" and the layout at the stations is horrific. Basically, there's only one station I fill up at, because the others are

A) Too expensive
B) Crappy gas
C) Too crowded
D) Too far away

Thanks for the tip though, I'll probably DL it on the Droid anyway, could definitely be useful for any travel I may do.

/Back to the topic at hand: I ordered a bunch of waterproof LEDs, got a new project on hand...they're due to arrive Monday or Tuesday of next week, I'd like to get a start on the project by next Saturday. We'll see.

I just installed PIAA xtreme white bulbs in the headlights, plus add some PIAA 520 atp fog lights to the frame horn

Got a little creative with the switch. I took the back off and the drilled the plate its mounted on and out the screw back in it, it took a little remming out of the plastic below it for the wire but overall looks pretty stock

agreed, the app does yellow pages, white pages, movies, restraunts, gas, events, and local deals, and is gps based, so, it's a very handy app to have.

that's awesome....are they big/bright enough to use as rock lights? if yes, please post the source, I'm seriously considering pulling my fender liner out and installing some LED's through it in 2 or 3 rows for front tire rock lights....possibly a couple in the back too so that there's plenty of ground illumination when I flip that switch on.

I just changed my oil and filter, modified my intake box (technically, the intake horn leading into the box), replaced the air filter, changed the PCV valve (write-up coming soon), and vacuumed and wiped down the interior. Ran out of steam before tackling the diff breather extension.

Oh, and I ordered a new hamburger for the grill. (That kind of sounds like I'm about to have lunch....)

I'm not sure how bright they are exactly. I'm sure if it was pitch black out, then yes; they'd make good rock lights, and I plan on using them as such actually, haha. I got them in amber so they'll match all my interior lighting.

Check out superbrightleds.com and oznium.com, they both carry great LED products.

Sent to you from my very own piece of East Coast paradise.
