Jenny lies

I’m so glad people still get this reference. I was at a comedy club last year, and the comic told a joke referencing this number and almost no one laughed. I looked around the room and realized that my wife and I were probably the oldest people there. Damn kids didn’t get the joke. Sadly, just like all the important events in my life, I crossed that threshold of my life before and my life now.

The good news is whenever we hear that song in the car, my kids sing as loud as they can EIGHT SIX SEVEN FIVE THREE-O-NIIIII-EE-IIIINE!

Raining and 40° out so I washed the salt off the truck. A couple people walking dogs looked at me like I was nuts. Hopefully the rain washes the rest of the salt off the roads too.

Sadly, most jokes are based in reality. There’s a lot of young women who can’t cook and won’t clean. On the other hand, there’s a lot of young men that can’t change a tire or swing a hammer.

So what good are they?

My wife can cook and clean, run a hay baler, hay swather, disc, seed, buck hay, garden, frame.

Don't ask her to go near a spider.

I hope all these “I’m a piece of trash and proud of it” people catch holy hell when their kids grow up and find out the kind of shiat their parents spewed online.

I frankly think either should be able and willing to do both.

My pops couldn't boil a hot dog, and wasn't particularly handy. On the flip side, my wife is my Sous Chef while I do most of the cooking , and I am a craftsman... so I guess he tossed me a fair distance from that tree.

No, it’s definitely far more nuanced than that. I’m not saying every man should be a knuckle dragging cave man, nor should every woman cook, clean, and make babies.

I suppose that, at the end of the day, it’s the overall lack of caring about anything that causes men and women to melt away into entropy. There is a massive sense of ungrateful entitlements among younger people, and a good portion aren’t willing to put in a hard day’s work. I hear it from a lot of people and have seen a lot of it for myself. Sad really.

I agree with this.

My Dad is exceptionally handy and will eventually be good at whatever he decides to try. But he doesn't like to cook and couldn't tell you the difference between a McDouble and a 3 star Michelin steak other than price. My Mom and Granny both worked on the farm with us and it was Granny that taught me to cook.

I wanted to learn to grill so I got a grill and tried and the same with smoking and the pizza oven and all that.

I try to teach my girls whatever I can. They help with whatever needs done and are pretty good at some things already. They're more useful than 90% of the kids they go to school with, that's for sure.

I try to involve my kids in any “life skills” I engage in around the house. Last week, I taught my daughter to change a tire, and last night, I taught my son to fry a burger on a cast iron pan, and properly clean said pan. They roll their eyes at me a lot, but they will thank me some day when they aren’t utterly hopeless in less than ideal circumstances.

I work for a manufacturing company that also has a retail website, and sometimes we get scam (stolen credit card, triangulation fraud) orders.

Most of the time we just cancel the orders, and of course never hear from the scammers. But there was this one guy that actually called in to check the status of his order. We told him it was shipped out and we would get him the tracking info. We'd put him on hold for quite a while, then mess with him when we got back on the phone.

He wanted the tracking number for the shipment, so I gave that number, but rrrrreeeealllly slowly.

Eight. Pause. Six. Pause. Seven. Pause. Five. Pause. Three. Pause. Zero. Pause... pause... pause. Nine. And then repeated again.

Wasted quite a bit of his time, and caused him a lot of frustation. He had no idea for quite a while that we were messing with him. It was great, wish I had been able to record the call.

Before the robo call days, I took a great deal of pleasure in stringing along scammers and then unceremoniously hanging up after I wasted 15 minutes of their time.
