The gift depends on whether you like the parents or not. Usually a one year doesn’t care that much. Things that make noise if you don’t care for the parents. Calming things with non detachable chewy bits are good. My kids liked to chew on the feet and ears of stuffed animals. And pistol ammunition is a choking hazard so you are restricted to large caliber rifle ammunition for a 1 year old
