Does anyone get any good usage out of the bin on their roof behind the wind deflector? I think this is more geared to the open bin of the 1st gen as I know the closing bin lid on the 2nd gen seems to make it a bit more useful I know I have seen Steeze and several others post useful ideas for that one.

I know I have hardly ever used mine for anything other than empty Gatorade bottles. I want to turn that into something useful.

The only time I ever "used" the bin was when I was installing my rooftop lights, I set the lights down in the bin along with a tray of hardware. I've never actually used it for holding anything in transit though.

I used the bin on my gen 2 all the time before I got a new rack.

Sent from my mansion in Grouchland.

Did the sunroof trucks come with a bin from the factory?

I bought mine used and it didn't have a bin up there when I bought it

Mine was used with a sunroof and didn't have a basket....saw one in a junkyard without a basket so I'm going with its not standard.

It would be nice to have one that is easy to take off when not needed.

I was thinking the same thing but maybe cutting the bottom around the sunroof and using a rubber pad so I could still flip up the roof and the bottom of the basket would just flip up with it.

I have tried making lids for the first gen bins, I used hdpe and it got hot and warped.. I would think a complete steel replacement would be fairly easy to make and be a hot item, I'd love one

First Fill-Up (of many)
I keep rolled up pieces of carpet, an older tow strap, and some chains in mine. Stuff if someone walked off with wouldn't bother me that much.

In winter I've also been known to keep my lunch in there.
