Yeah.... I've gone way overboard with them recently. I probably need to thin the herd soon and let go of some of the blades in not getting use from.
Post the sale items here cause..you know, I'm impulsive and stuff.Yeah.... I've gone way overboard with them recently. I probably need to thin the herd soon and let go of some of the blades in not getting use from.

Got this tiny neck knife for the kayak and just used it today. It's just lovely. Finesse cut bait like I was an artist~

Yea, it's like scalpel sharp so I was fileting perch and shad just messing around. It's pretty neat for a 35-40$ price point. That's a crazy looking piece! That sharp point help with the bait?
I also agree with the S30V and and the 440C being very good steels for EDC folders1095 is a great user steel. If you want something to really bash on and still sharpen with ease I gotta say it's my favorite. The ESEEs are great for that.
Now, with that being said (since I know @Xterrorista or @maillet282 would call me out for my ESEE obsession) I think for a good EDC folder, S30V has to be my favorite. It still sharpens easily on an Arkansas stone and stropps up very nicely. Benchmade has a great treatment on their S30V as well. It'll still chip like most sintered metals, but it's from use.
The M390 Grip I had was SHARP. Stayed sharp a long time too. But Arkansas stone would barely polish it and it seemed to like to chip out when I tried to sharpen it.
For me, being able to sharpen without a specialty rig, anywhere I need to, is an important thing in a knife.
I need to get some more 440c blades, maybe another Grip?
If i beat the crap out if my blade or i need to re-profile the blade i will start with my Ken Onion Work sharp machine. Then i will finish it off with my lansky that inhave upgraded up to a 6 stone. Then strop. If its quick blade maintenance its right onto the lansky and a stropTo sharpen.. what do yall use? I inherited a cpl stones from my grandad but usually end up using the little red plastic Rapala one that came with their cheap filet knife because it's so easy to put a quick edge on something.
That's it, I don't know if it's the Ken edition but I remember the name and look.. such awesome edgesSounds very much similar to work sharp ken onion edition ( same one i have)

This rig sharpens the blade with a convex angle. Makes for a super sharp edge super fast but if your not used to using it you can quickly ruin the temper as well as remove a tip quite quick with this set upThat's it, I don't know if it's the Ken edition but I remember the name and look.. such awesome edges
The blade steel for the spew ( Small Pocket Everyday Warncliffe) is actually 5Cr15MoV as per the CRKT website. Not sure what the 2388 is. It could be the model number by the creator ( Alan Folts)How's this steel on that little neck knife? 2388?View attachment 19724

Eh, upon lookup, cheap Chinese knockoff that'll be great for what I got it for, bait. Easy to sharpen quick to dull.Is is worthy Great Knive Masters?
CRKT stuff is usually ok. They aren't a "premium" brand but they make nice knives with an affordable price point. The cost of affordability is usually steel quality in knives.Eh, upon lookup, cheap Chinese knockoff that'll be great for what I got it for, bait. Easy to sharpen quick to dull.
Be careful with that thing. Never use the green belt to sharpen a blade ( too coarse and will make the blade disappear). As well you should practice on dollar store blades that you don't give a shiat about before attempting to use on one of your favourite blades. That thing can round off a tip faster than jim looking up tentaclesYou were right but it wasn't the onion. View attachment 19747
Agreed with all of the abbove. Another option is the worksharp field sharpener.CRKT stuff is usually ok. They aren't a "premium" brand but they make nice knives with an affordable price point. The cost of affordability is usually steel quality in knives.
Looking into it a bit, it offers good corrosion resistance and like you said, easy to sharpen. Sounds like a great steel for what you intend to use it for. Back it up with a larger fixed blade for camp tasks and a hatchet or small axe to round out your kit! Maybe toss one of the diamond pocket sharpeners in your bag to touch it up if you need to but I would imagine you could probably use the edge of your car window in a pinch. The Lansky Puck is handy if you carry an axe as well.
I like ESEE because of price point and unbeatable warranty but there are many other good camp knife makers out there.
I like the look of that! I need to measure my angles, they're somewhere between 20-25 though.Agreed with all of the abbove. Another option is the worksharp field sharpener.

what do you all think? Or too aggressive for a medic
Laser Strike? Was thinking more of possibly another 4 but dont know.
I like thenother guys idea of the 6HM tooLaser Strike?
I like my PR4 a lot, but I don't know if it has the combat feel to it? The 6HM or even a 5 would be cool.I like thenother guys idea of the 6HM too
was also contemplating a PR4
PR4 is very camp knife, at least for me knowing the Kephart origins.Ive carried my 4 CP on deployments as well as every day since. Because im a medic i am less of a life taker but have broken my fair share of hearts before i got married
