1) variety of different obstacles. The Chute going up, tilt-a-whirl coming down...some real challenging stuff, but nothing equipment-breaking
2) cool wildlife - got a great look at one of those blue/green/yellow lizards
3) small group, fun people. JL and Mary did a great job leading, and the Canadians are a riot. Heard on the CB: "Hang on, I have to re-set the dog". Heard from JL while spotting the right-side drive Mistubishi: "Driver. Driver. OTHER DRIVER!"

Now I'm waffling - see that Nick (Silver_Gen1_X) is leading Metal Masher on Thursday. Hmmm...

Anybody else going to Moab and thinking about which trails to run? I'm still deciding. Pretty much same as above, only now doing Fins on Monday instead of Hells Revenge. Thursday's up in the air now - Hells, Metal Masher, or day off. Hmmm...

You're just being nice Sean... slacker is the description that I like to use.

I finished a "light" rebuild of the engine heads over the summer and replaced all of the stuff that typically goes bad during the first 100K miles. I've been using it as a DD for the past few months while I have been doing a similar refresh on my Toyota Tundra. Now that I have that all behind me, I'm finally starting to get the fun stuff (in the left half of this pic) installed:

So... I'm about to register and I'm a newb to Moab... any suggestions on which trails to choose? I've been wheeling since I was a kid (25ish years ago) and wheel the popular trails in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado a few times each year. I can usually run trails that recommend 35" tires and sliders without issue. This is my first stab at it:

Mon: Fins N Things
Tue: Steel Bender
Wed: Flat Iron
Thu:Kane Creek
Fri: Poison Spider

I really like that pic of all your parts to-do. Most excellent tasks await your X. Will you have front and rear lockers or just rear?

The trails I did last year on completely open diffs are: Top of the World, Seven Mile Rim, Fins and Things, and Hell's Revenge. Sean may have a stong opinion about Kane Creek (broke his motor mount on it) and could probably tell you more about the others you have listed on there.

I'm cool either way. If it means that Dave will be able to make it, I'll gladly bow out and work something else out. I may head out to the hills for some primitive camping two or three nights but I'm willing to pitch in for the whole week.
