From a lot of what I've read, stuff like that are more like, appetite suppressants. Which could be a good thing if you have a hard time limiting what you eat. I don't, however, but into the whole "fat burning food" deal.

Yeah not to sure about the whole fat burning food part. But they definitely work to keep you on track when your get the munchies and just through down on a few.

peppers and others are good for that. there are certain foods that "help you burn fat" there are also foods that help you stay full. peanut butter, oatmeal, eggs, grapes( just not to many because of the sugar content) and a few others.

Its hard to focus on a workout when you can hear "Call Me Maybe" over the sound of a TV, falling weights, and a treadmill through another person's headphones.

That's ridiculous man, definitely glad the gym I signed up at doesn't have anybody like that. Although there is the Zumba class in the side room but at least that isn't totally annoying music.

Ours only goes up to 60#. Also, we don't have barbells, which is a necessity for 75% of the things I like to do. I improvise a lot.

I can't argue though, since its free to me. I refuse to go to the campus Rec Center.

Nonono, don't get me wrong, the Univ. Rec Center has anything and everything I need. I just don't like lifting with 100 other people and/or fighting for weights.

And yes, it is always that busy. Damn popular school.

Just got done doing a "total body" workout. Not a huge fan of them but its my first day back after a week, so I felt the need to hit every major muscle group. Pry do those the rest of the week and get back on track Monday.

^Nice!

Today I upped my weight for flies. Ugh. Armpit muscles and everywhere around shoulders is sore.

I like to use the giant inflated workout ball instead of a bench when I do arm exercises. Makes me work out my core at the same time.

I appreciate the fact that my gym has a nice balance of machines, cardio and free weights and other misc things. Personally, I am a fan of free weights. I think the gym goes up to 140# or so.

Last week I went to the gym (same company, many locations) closer to my house than work in the morning and there was a body builder woman there. Whoa, her thighs were MASSIVE. And then I realised she and I were lifting the same free weight weights, bwahahaha!

Nice! Those exercise balls are great to use in place of a bench for core stabilization. You can do an entire workout with just one of those balls.

Definitely overworked my arms yesterday. Can't get my elbows to bend or straighten without some serious pain. Not talking about that next day sore but actual pain, time for some tylenol and ice.

Nope I'm not talking about that ridiculously sore feeling but actual pain. Got to thinking about it today and I know what I did to em, was getting worn out by the end of my routine and had crap a$$ form when I was doing curls.

Starting 5/3/1 tomorrow. Tomorrow: get baselines established so I can calculate percentages. This should be interesting, considering the amount of trauma by body has seen in the last 2 years...

^Excuse my ignorance, but what is 5/3/1?

In other news, a former triathlon teammate of mine convinced me to sign up for a half ironman for next June. Luckily we are going to do a relay team since I am not quite ready to do a half (again). I get to swim, yay! Now we get to work on findings sponsors for us. MAn oh man, I have not done a triathlon since 2008, whew!

Reporting back for post-workout report:

(including 45lb Olympic bar)
Bench press- 65lbs
Dead lift- 75lbs

And on the bar that spots for you (no clue what it's called or how much it weighs)
Shoulder press- 30lbs + unknown bar weight
Squat- 70lbs + unknown bar weight

Funny thing, I can get on the leg press and knock out 200+ easily, but squats are a whole different ballgame.

I should have done this last night, but I picked up some B12 and Muscle Milk on my way home.

you need to know how to squat correctly before you do a horrible job and hurt yourself. squats are an awesome whole body lift. same with dead lifts, if done right. i'm also doing some variation of Olympic lifting right now with an older gentlemen at the gym that does competitions, i'm doing it for fun and he is doing it for the actual competition.

I'm just THAT out of shape. Sure, I can take a 300lb patient and have no problems picking up the cot, but that's about it. My legs have always been the weakest link, even when I played college ball.

Squat bars are generally 45lbs. Squats are always tougher than leg presses because you're lifting your entire body weight and balancing. Leg press is just weights, no balance. When I played soccer and trained more often, I was leg pressing nearly 800lbs, but could still only squat about 300, and only 2 reps at that weight before I was wasted for a couple of days.

Also, may I recommend Protein Rush instead of Muscle Milk. It has half as much fat, and the ready to drink Protein Rush doesn't have the bitter aftertaste that the ready to drink Muscle Milk has.

I can press 500 I can only squat 175
