The only thing we leave on the counter is bread and fruit. The two cats we have now stay off the counters and table so I don't worry about then much. The other cat my wife took in as a stray and it would rip open bread bags and everything else it could get into. The pup is learning to not get stuff off the counter she likes eating bananas and apples but she is getting better at not grabbing stuff off the counter.

The dog hasn't taken anything off the counter's , yet! But she put's her nose on the counter and sniff's the food that's up there and look's at you with that sad pleeease can I have a piece mister, look on her face. She's slender but kinda tall half Lab/half German Shepard rescue but built like a Borzi [Russian wolfhound] As long as she don't open up the cabinet's I'm good .
