If you are looking for great home style breakfast.. Look for

Granny's Kitchen
470 Weaverville Highway Asheville, NC 28804

They have kinda weird hours of operation.. but their breakfast cannot be beat. Home style all day.. biscuits and gravy are on point all the time.

If you are in the area of the Pine Barrens on Route 206 in Jersey and it's before 2pm... You need to stop in and eat at The Outpost- 750 Route 206 Hammonton, NJ 08037

They serve breakfast and lunch. I have only been for breakfast but i have never had such a delicious breakfast in my life! The omelets are just perfectly cooked. Nothing is greasy like with most diners in our area.

Not to be confused with the one on Greenville, this is Thai food, run by two Thai natives (the chef can barely speak English). I dare you to find something bad. Pra-Ram is an excellent peanut dish, while the Basil Noodles (wide flat rice noodles) is my personal fave

Simply Burger: various Tarrant County locations
Best burger you'll ever have. It has four locations around Tarrant County (Mansfield, Arlington, Euless, Ft. Worth), but is strictly a local thing.

Good thing you know about 12 Bones.. its the first thing I tell people about Asheville..

It is indeed a great place! I happened upon it during one of my trips home to NC from KY back in 09. Now I almost always plan my trips home so I can have lunch here as I pass through headed east on I-40.

So many places to list here, so I'll try to keep it short.

If you find yourself in New Orleans:

In the town I live in, Houma, which is a little off the beaten path, but not far:
The Duke
7819 Main Street
Houma, LA 70360
It's a 5 star dive! Creative twists on burgers, great hot dogs, chili cheese fries, breakfast fries, cold beer, open late. My favorite place in town, and the only place in town I can get homemade bratwurst and sauerkraut.

Ichiban -- I love sushi and this is where I go to get it
1693 Martin Luther King Blvd
Houma, LA 70360

Song Phi Nong --We have an inordinate amount of Thai restaurants in our town, but this is the best one.

That's my short list. If you're ever planning on being in the area and looking for something different, hit me up and I'll make some recommendations!

The Jughandle Inn-
1018 S. Fork Landing Road at Route 73
Cinnaminson, NJ 08077
ph: 856-665-WING
alt: Hours:11am-2am

By far the best wings hands down! They have been on The View as well as the Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate".

The only bar i know of that has laws: Jughandle LAWS!

YOU’RE HOME,

WHEN YOU’RE HERE!!!!

1. The restaurant is run for the enjoyment & pleasure of our guests, not the convenience of the staff or management.

2. We hate soggy fries. If yours are not crisp, the way you like them, send them back. Maybe the kitchen will get the message.

3. Beef is tasty because it contains some fat. If you want lean corned beef . . . order turkey.

4. We wait until your mouth is full before asking if you're enjoying the meal. Nods, grins, OK and thumbs up signals are all acceptable ways of letting us know.

5. This is a bad place for a diet, but if you insist on being in better shape than we are? Just let us know & we'll fix you up with something.

6. Our portions are excessive because nothing succeeds like excess. If you can't eat it all, we'll be glad to wrap it up for you.

7. Our restaurant is reminiscent of a simpler time a time when a meal couldn't be prepared in 90 seconds. We roast our own turkeys, roast beef, ribs, pulled pork, pastrami & much more so you can enjoy the taste of those simpler times, without any of the work.

8. At THE JUG, we're serious about food.... But not much else. Relax & have a good time!

9. THE JUG is an evolutionary restaurant we thrive on your comments as to how we might improve the joint. Help us to make it your place, as well as ours!

THE JUG/

J Everett, keep'em comming. I need to get back down LA way. Speaking of which I noticed you listed a Japanese place named "Ichiban". I recall a small Japanese place (back in the late 90s) in Leesville also named Ichiban. Wonder if there is a connection?

I doubt it. I know the owners of the one in Houma; they've lived here since they were kids. "Ichiban" is Japanese for "number one" so it's probably a pretty common name for Japanese restaurants.

If you like classic, greasy diner-style burgers, hit up Bobbie's Dairy Dip... and order the Kitchen Sink while you're there.

Ah, yeah the one I knew in Leesville was run by two middleaged (back then) Japanese ladies. Its been years since I was there last so thougth they might have changed locations. Then again, as you pointed out, Ichiban is a pretty common name for a Japanese eatery. Domo arigato

Primanti Brothers
Any location is good...but I suggest the original in the Strip District.

Clem's Cafe (BBQ)
This place started as a single cooker a long the road almost 20 years ago. It grew into a shack, and then a bigger shack and then when they widened the road, they were forced to move. They ended up about a mile down the road in a newly built, much larger, building. Their menu is small...but if you like BBQ pork, this is the place to go!

Penn Brewery
I like beer and nothing goes better with beer than good food. Penn Brewery was founded in the mid 1980's in an old 1800's brewery. They were the first Brew Pub in PA. They have great beers (personal favorites are the Penn Dark and St. Nikolaus Bock (seasonal)). They have changed ownership over the years, but last year the original owner and founder took over again. They have some of the best (and most unique) pierogies and some really good traditional German food. The Octoberfest celebration can not be missed!
800 Vinial Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15212

Max's Allegheny Tavern
If you like traditional German food, you can't miss this place. Not only is the food great, but the service is excellent.
537 Suismon Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15212

Quaker Steak and Lube
This place started in Sharon, PA, (about an hour north of Pittsburgh). They expanded and cover a number of cities and states, however, nothing beats the original. If you like things with engines and wheels and you like good food, this is the place for you. They are known for their wings and have quite the selection of sauces, but they also have a full menu with burgers and salads.

Oh, almost forgot about way way way upstate NY. There's a place just outside of Plattsburg that sells delicious hotdogs called Michigans. It's Ronnie's Michigan Stand.

They're kinda like sloppy joes, kinda like mamwich on a hot dog, kinda like a chili dog, but so so so good!

Plattsburg...wow that is indeed WAY up state. LOL I was stationed in Albany several years ago and one of the ASVAB Test sites I was in charge of was in Plattsburg.

I recall a tiny little shack of a place in Watervliet NY, really close to where I lived when I was up there but the name escapes me.

Love that place -
When we first started going there it was like $3.40 for the "Pie Dinner"
Which is more than enough food.
now it's like $7 but still worth it.
