Losing things between the seats - is there anything worse?

In your day-to-day drives, is there anything worse in your Xterra
than losing your cell phone or iPod in the black hole between the seats???

I can't think of anything more annoying; there's always way too much effort to retrieve your lost items, why is this?

Does your Xterra have a mind of its own, or quirks special only to you?
:concern:

Yes...my legs are too long to sit where my seat is, but too short to engage the clutch from where I would normally sit. Drives me INSANE. Plus I have to tilt the steering wheel higher than I normally would to accommodate my left knee while shifting.

I do agree. I have a similar problem. I have long legs, but in order to keep my arms at a comfortable position and not look like a gangster that can barely reach the wheel, my seat has to sit closer, and my legs get crammed underneath.

There has been more than one occasion where I will slam on the brake instead of the clutch. I blame this on lack of foot room lol. Quite an embarrassing mix-up!

I always dump my pop tart crumbs into the parking brake handle boot. That's really frustrating for me.

Number one thing I hate is how the steering wheel is like this... \ but mine seems to be slanted more than normal I don't know but I'd like it to not be titled so much. I know it's suppose to be tilted but it seems alot more than my heep was or my dads f150

Second this...but I'm missing the cup holder inserts and all the crumbs go down into those little holes, and then the drinks slide around and I spilled one and it pretty much glued all that nasty crap down do I can't vaccume it out. Still trying to figure out how to clean it.

One more thing is...my brake is touchy as hell! When I first got it I would always slam in the brakes on accident. Every person who drives my X does it. I've never driven a car with this touchy of brakes!

Did that today, ended up bouncing the phone all the way to the back of the black hole and had to use my fingernail to get it out. Thank gawd for screen protectors!

OH wow, it's not just me. I've dropped all kinds of junk by the seat belt and had one heck of a time getting it out. I've even dropped my phone down there during an active call! I had to yell at my wife that I wasn't ignoring her lol.

Upside to a 4x2 is there is that little cubby by the gear shifter where my phone sits perfectly!

Yes, I think that would make your cell phone a higher priority target for thieves looking as a wallet. lol

I do not have this problem. In 2nd Gens, there is a space next to the shifter- kind of like the pic shown, but smaller and perfect-sized for my (POS) iphone.

I think driving home and needing to poop or pee are worse scenarios...and being stuck behind the 3-tractor trailer going 10mph under. Yep, that is a no-win scenario right there...

I hate having to poop while im driving. My fat *** droid x doesn't fit in the cubby next to the shifter, and if i put it there, the heat from the transmission causes it to overheat anyways lol

You should get your brakes adjusted. It shouldn't really have much to do with an "Xterra" thing. The brakes on my X are great, not too touchy or hard.

I usually end up dropping my knife between the driver's seat and the center console. It never manages to slip all the way under the seat, where I could just grab it from below. Instead, it gets hung up on the seat mount and completely out of reach from all angles. PITA...

My biggest complaint with my X right now is that my right-side fog light doesn't work and I have no idea why. Also my back right window doesn't work from the driver's door, but works from the back right door...

Sounds like a wiring issue. You've prob got an open circuit to your fog light, and also from your driver side master switch to the back window. The switch in the back is on a different circuit than your master switch, which is why it works from the back, but not the front.

Flashlight is a good idea! Too bad I already have a flashlight mod, and I don't need two lol. I've decided to come up with a BA mod that anyone can do to remedy the problem. Hopefully I will have something up soon, when I figure it out.

I also don't have the inserts. I cut up two of the weather tech coaster mats to fit into the bottom of the cup holder. I would love to have at least one insert so I could stop putting my redbull in the rear cup holder attached to the back of the center console.

Just a heads up- the RedBull can (well, at least the 8oz) won't fit snug...it's still just as lose.

I didn't really come up with a solution for in between the seats, but for those of us that have 4x4, and would like a little more room for our random shiz like phones and iPod and keep them OUT of between the seats.... I did this. I've always hated the shifter boot, and I don't eat in my truck so I don't need to worry bout crumbs n nastiness getting in. Just need a new knob and it'll be good to go! Found this VERY handy ever since =]

Take the boot off and there's this nifty little nook.

Buy a $2 basket (that I need to paint) at Walmart and trim the front... perfect fit!!

Remove both front seats. (14mm socket)
Unscrew rear center console (4 #2 Phillips or 10mm socket, two each side). Remove.
Unscrew front center console. You'll need to give a sharp pull to dislodge the clips holding it to the lower dash. This will give you a little room to remove the boot or shroud around the shift levers
Unplug acc outlet from center console and remove te console
Use a canister of Lysol wipes and you should be able to clean it all up.

I spent 8 hours the other weekend doing chores like this

I have my flash light there as well. Great place to have it incase of that "I need to have it NOW" scenario.
