Been working on my sons pathy over the weekend.
Did a 2.5" lift and now doing a tube/plate pre-run bumper similar to mine for his.
Think it's going to look pretty good, but what a PITA to work on! Most of the day just getting bumper off and making brackets for bumper tubes to mount to.

As much as I complain about the 2nd gens hard & tough to work on as far as tight spaces go, this '97 is 10x worse!!!!

Did someone say a Gen1 2.5" FRONT tube bumper w/ no plating and 2" tubing on top for the grill and lights protection and a skid from MAX?!?!?!

This may just be Mod #1 for the 2009 we picked up.. I cant see buying a hitch for it when I can get it all together... :)

I did that first trip off road, my trailer plug bracket is a little out of whack. I'm leaning toward your bumper as my favorite, really like the LED strip you did for the license plate. I used a strip like that on my Bronco and it looks cool. Probably will be a while before I get to buying a bumper for the X, but I'm keeping you in mind.

Was going to go on mine, but another local guy wanted it, so I hurried and just spray painted it so he could go to Moab. Will powdercoat it when he gets back.
Gotta order up a bunch of Plasma/Formed parts so I can start offering these too (and then I can build me one!)

Big thanks to Dave for the build and install, and the extras. It turned out great! Drove to SLC to pick it up and install, its excellent!

What is the wiring like for the reverse lights you've got on them?

And where do you put hitch receiver pin on the version with the more flush hitch? Towing chain hook ups?

The reverse light just get tapped into the stock leads in the taillight. And the flush mount hitch pin and chain hookups are behind the bumper, a little awkward but I don't tow much and my knees don't hurt from banging into the hitch at night when I'm camping so I love it.

Maxterra said that was one downside to the flush hitch, no room for 2nd spare. I never tried and threw away the spare chain hoist. I mounted my oba tank under there.
