This is an event not to miss, if you own a Nissan and like to wheel, even a little, You need to make this a priority.

You down for camping? We might. I'm trying to figure out cost right now, looking at the canyon lands cg or moab rim camp park. The condos seem pricey but I guess once you split them up. Also don't know about the dogs either.

^I'm all for camping! Or if we can get enough people in on a condo, I can do that, too. I love dogs, esp huskies (we raised them when I was little), so I say bring 'em (if you can). I fig if we get a caravaning group together we can split the cost of wherever we stay.

Yeah I totally understand what you mean. I was there for a year. Until I wound up here in the desert.

On the nXm note, where would I fly into?

You dont need to be locked to have a good time (can make things more interesting) but not a necessity. Trails like Cane creek, PSM, Hells Revenge, Fins 7 Things, Metal Masher can all be run open.

I don't have a locker don't figure it will be too much of an issue. First time there I'll probably be doing the easier to med runs anyway. don't have a ton of armor.

And Dave I know it would be a pricey trip for ya, I figured your locked statement was about funds.

Gemini Bridges is a great campground too. Plenty of space and it's out of the wind. The wife and I camped there several years ago, it was sweet. Highly recommend it, it's just north of town. But even camping in town isn't too bad either. Plenty of options for camping. Hell, even south of town is good, but it can be windy.

Oh, and Area BFE has camping too.

People have rented Jeeps before, and 1 or 2 Jeeps & Yotas show up every year. The group from Russia Rented a jeep for the whole week, they were a fun group!!

Biggest misconception.... is that you need to have an insane truck to run in Moab. WRONG! 80% of the trails can be ran (taking the legal bypasses) with minimal mods to a truck. Sliders can be the biggest help more for driver piece of mind than anything else.

This x bajillion!!!

I've done most of the nice trails in Moab in stock/near stock vehicles. Totally doable.

Plus Joe, if the Mrs. likes to come along, there's plenty of shopping, site seeing and plenty of other things that folks like to do in the area.

My wife loves Moab, even getting out on a couple of the scenic trails, although she's not a big fan of off roading.

I was a Moab-virgin last year. I've got an 07 OR with spacers, shackles, and 33 BFG AT KOs. I've also got Remy's sliders and skids. I ran Hell's Revenge, Seven Mile Rim, Elephant Hill, Fins n Things, and Poison Spider Mesa. Due to some issues with my locker, I wasn't using it all that much and had no issues. In all honesty, there were plenty of folks running trails with no armor or just stock skids and they had no problems.

For many of the different obstacles, even without doing the bypasses, there are different legal lines that can be taken. That's where armor comes in - take the easy line, no armor needed. Take the harder line, armor gets abused. Hell, the thing I abused the most was my hitch.

And that one rock on Elephant Hill.

^Good to know, Ron. Thanks for letting us noobs know. I was wondering about the steeper angles and hitch. Guess that answers my question, ahaha.

What trails do you plan to do this coming year?

Metal Masher, Steel Bender, Kane Creek, leading Elephant Hill, and Flat Iron Mesa. Basically all reds except what I'm leading.

One thing that Kevin and Josh are doing this year (and maybe they've done this in the past) is let the trails increase in difficulty within their color range as the week goes on.

My personal experience started with Hell's Revenge - first trail I ran out there. After that I did Seven Mile Rim, Fins, Hell's again, Elephant Hill, and then closed with Poison Spider Mesa. For anyone who's having their first time out there, read the trail descriptions and go with what you're comfortable with. If you want, start easy and work your way up. However, prepare to be amazed at what your X can do. You'll climb hills you never thought possible, see some incredible sights, and have fun with folks.

However, you don't necessarily have to start easy. Obviously I didn't and I'm alive and didn't do a bit of damage to the X when I was there.

YMMV.

Yeah I noticed that on their site. I like that idea a lot.

Mel's to-do list:
1. Finish fabbing rest of skids
2. Install CB...someday when its not so cold out
3. Find boyfriend to help me share in cost of room.

I'll think of more later.
