WTB VG33E core, 5.13 gears, locker(s)

After a bunch of back and forth I've decided to rebuild a stock VG33E for my 2001 Xterra and spend the money I save by not upgrading engine performance on gears and a locker or two.

Looking for;
A decent VG33E to rebuild
5.13 gears for front and rear
Maybe a rear locker
Anyone have anything out there?
I'm in Canada close to Washington and would prefer face to face deals but if shipping is the only way maybe we can work something out.

I have rear 5.13 gears. They currently reside in an unused axle, just soaking up gear oil. I won't be able to even get to them for 2.5 more weeks, but if you're willing to wait, I may be able to get them out. You will still want a bearing kit though.

Just buy new.. Very vey few people have 5.13... Even less have them for the r200 the nitro gears for the h233b are only $320

I may have an engine for you. I was told it is "locked up" but got no further detail. I bought the truck for the trans. I'll be digging into what may be the issue with the engine this coming weekend. And I can freight ship to WA. Would be coming from Chicagoland.

What exactly are you looking for? long block, short block? manifolds?

Shipping would probably put it over what I want to spend. Looking for a long block with the intake but right now if I don't find one for cheap enough I'll probably just rebuild the top end of the one currently in the truck.
It runs ok but I have several minor leaks including an exterior head gasket leak and with the cost increase of a master rebuild kit versus a head gasket kit and no plans to get rid of the truck for at least 3-4 years I figured if I could find a very cheap one to rebuild and swap in I'd do that.

you're probably right. Even picking up at a shipping depot in WA is probably going to cost ~$300+ in freight alone.

I'll check out the engine and shipping if you're interested. Assuming no major broken parts I'd be in the $350 + freight range.

Hey Man not trying to be downer just trying to give ya advice. I know the deals are out ther. I got my rear 5.13s with ARB for 500 and front 5.13s set up for 300, but thats through the grape vine and just takes time. If your looking to get it done soon were just trying to give ya some advice.

Hey, bud. I can appreciate your persistence here but the "downers" who've offered advice are just trying to help you out. If you really want to make these mods, you may want to consider saving up or figuring out other ways to come up with the extra cash. Those who have gone through the hassle of buying these things and installing them aren't likely to be willing to give them up.

Ok thanks again for the tips. I do understand that if I can't find used gears I will have to buy them new. I'd still like to find an engine core as well so maybe I will find it this way, maybe I won't. That is kind of the way WTB threads work. I have gotten a front locker, so maybe a rear will pop up as well.

Could you please stop cluttering up my WTB thread with things that aren't very helpful.

Helpful depends on where you are standing. No one has said anything rude and clutter matters none when you're getting free bumps on your thread after bumping it multiple times already. Advice is what you make of it.

I'd recommend craigslist and junk yards in your area, especially since you're looking for a specialized item with the added difficulty of different countries.

Well I posted a thread looking to buy things that do exist in the world, almost had a deal for rear gears but he was nice enough to be honest and tell me they weren't in great shape after opening up the axle, I've bought another item on my list so I don't think I'm out to lunch looking for some parts.

The different country thing isn't really a problem. I live so close to the border and have a US shipping address I can get things to so I can save money that way. So far it looks like xterranation just wants to tell me to eff off, I can't buy those things.

I get it, gears are hard to come by. I realize I will probably have to buy them new. That advice was posted, why does it need to be repeated?

Anyone have a 2001 or 2002 VG33E I can buy? This is the item currently at the top of my list.

That's cool, but you came to a forum where unsolicited advice runs rampant and you take it or leave it. Ok thanks for the well wishes. Just thought the classifieds were a place you don't comment much if you aren't looking to make a deal.

I have time to wait for the gears so I'm willing to spend some time looking for a deal. Looks like I might have found an engine so that will be taking up my time for the next little while if the deal goes through.
