well looks like my good deed of the week is done. had to escort of my company's OTR specialty products drivers who was very lost out of the residential area by where i park my truck back to our yard. poor driver was very tired and nearly out of hours, but very thankful i did that.
nothing like turning down dark road in my pick up and seeing a white Pete with KAG on the side and being all like, "you are for damn sure not suppose to be here". guy was a little perplexed at first by me but when he saw that we have the same company hat on of the joy on that mans face when he saw me. i just said 'fallow me, driver" and the man had a safe place to stay the night.

Yah, I get it. So many of them seem to want to pull the vendor lock-in garbage to keep you on their platform, despite the open standards that should make everything nice and easy to work together... The amount of time I spend researching when buying new devices is getting a bit ridiculous, just to make sure they will all work together as I expect them to.
Random thought if you ever feel like trying again, that shouldn't cost anything. I am assuming your TV has wifi capability, there are free apps in the Play store for miracast, you could try enabling the hotspot mode on your phone, connecting the TV to that, and seeing if you can stream that way. Worst case, if your tv only support Google Chromecast, this would at least give you a few apps that you could watch on your tv, like Youtube. Best case is it does support miracast, so would just mirror your phone screen on the tv. Wish I could just pop by and help you test a bunch of stuff to see what I could get working, but it would be a bit hard for me to convince the wife I gotta go to Colorado at this time of year for a tech thing

It's a beautiful day for a work drive. 3 hour drive. Now a 30 min wait for a delivery van to finish being loaded. Then an hour repair on a dock level. And another 3 hour drive home. A very nice way to end the week.

I'd like to take a moment and appreciate the Netflix / marvel series with the exception of Jessica Jones. We saw marvel go dark and it was ufcking glorious. Especially daredevil season 2 with the introduction of The Punisher.
