$2-300 buy a Kohler.
i'm buying a toilet for my parents old POS house that we had to gut and de-mold the entire thing. we're doing this as cheap as possible. i spent $89 on a terlet. my brother said it needs to be 4in out from the wall bc of the baseboard heat and the guy ad the depot told me theres no measurement for that on the box so i just bought one in hopes it fits.

Your brother is dumb. You measure a toilet by the rough in.

he knows that. its a 12 in rough in. but it's an old house with baseboard heat and he said the base sticks out farther in the back on some toilets than others, which may not leave enough room for the baseboards. my brother said we'll probably be fine b/c most toilets are 4 inches, but my step dad is freaking out bc he swears we need to special order it. and then there is me who has zero idea about anything.

Also tell your parents to buy their own damn toilet.

their house is falling apart. bad. a lot of water damage. they've needed this bathroom renovation for years, and now its a safety concern, also, we need them to be able to sell it soon b/c theyre in debt, getting old, and this house is too big for them. they cant afford the reno in order to sell it, so my siblings and i agreed to all chip in and do it as cheap as possible.

Cheap toilets cause expensive problems

not my house, not my problem. the rotted out studs in the wall and floor were what we were a little more worried about. the point is to getting in working order so they can sell, its the upstairs guest bathroom anywho.
Just get a pay toilet (it's like a phone both) and you keep the key so yo can get some of you money back.

Just out of curiosity what is your usual charge for install of a standard customer supplied toilet, when there are no issues and it installs nicely.

I got a couple quotes up hear last year because my mom needed one replaced and I was busy. I ended up doing it my self in under an hour, couldn't justify the prices I was quote.

It all depends on the going rate in your area. I'd be right around 175+any materials needed+disposal fee
