Sounds complicated. DuckyTV downloads all my shows on the VPN machine into the correct folder on the server and Plex picks them up.

Curious what you think of Jellyfin.

Plex is just so gobbledamn easy.
I used to love plex. As they move more stuff behind the plex pass, it started to annoy me more and more.

So far, I'm really liking jellyfin.

I'm not sharing my library outside of my network, so having ombi seems completely unnecessary. I showed my wife how to add movies to the queue, so I'm good there.

I might add ombi and play around with it, but I don't really think it's necessary.

BTW, this is all running on my old dual xeon e5-2670 box, with 16 cores.... Now all I need to do is get gpu pass through to work....

Well today was an interesting day. Some people for fired ( pretty much the person that was causing the dumpster fire and other issues so a good thing) now my supervisor and her boss have more control of what we need to do and are getting 2 more people( also a good thing) now the bad part. We need to find volunteers around the camp that are willing to become actors for our casualty simulations

I bought a lifetime back 7 or 8 years ago when they were like $30. So that's not an obstacle. I share my library with my sister in NY. And she has no issues with playback even with my 100/50 DSL connection.

Need Bigger Tires
Spent the last two weeks getting a new virtualize media server up running.

Running jacket as a torrent indexer. It feeds searches to radarr for movies and sonarr for TV shows. It keeps track of what I have, when things come out, and downloads full seasons of shows. It sends the torrents to transmission running in a VPN, then sends them to the correct folders in my Nas shares. Then, jellyfin reads the movies, downloads the Metadata, and processes them for streaming to my devices.

I'm really digging it so far.

I also setup openvpn today as well, while testing something for work. Now I need to find a solid dynamic dns service that works with opnsense so I don't have to try and track down my ip from outside my network.
Depending on what you are running vpn for, look at wireguard instead of openvpn, way better performance.

Also, cloudflare for ddns if you have your own domain, pretty sure Ive set that up on opnsense... If not built in, I might have a script lying around you can throw into a cron job.

$30 I would have reasonably parted with. That being said, other than built in outside access, jellyfin seems to do everything that plex does (at least that I can see).

Right now, outside access is handled by my open VPN setup.

I'm also going to be getting fiber here soonish.

I'll definitely look into cloud flare.

This is hardly talent. It's force of will. I'm not good at it, I just make it not fall apart mostly.
