I can't promise anything tomorrow, gotta take the little runt to the Rain Forest Cafe for her birthday meal. If you don't get to it, let me know, I finally have a free weekend next week, and will be able to help then.

Sorry for the lack of updates, been real strapped for cash and focusing on getting the Civic running..don't like only having one vehicle capable of getting me to work. The Xterra has been worrying me for a while and I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I have the manual tranny and it's always acted odd but it has steadily gotten worse. Until it warms up the first couple gears are not as smooth to get into, as well as out of..when I hit the clutch to shift into 2nd the vehicle kinda bucks and I can hear a loud..clang or something. No grinding, though, and doesn't happen once it's been driven a bit. The shifter also always bobs back and forth in 1-3 when I let off the gas. Never pops out though. Any ideas? First 5 speed I've owned that wasn't low mileage and acted flawlessly.

Could be the type of fluid in it, I know my 240sx is hard to shift and feels weird to shift when it's cold outside. The bobbing of the shifter could be a trans mount or maybe a bad shifter bushing

Alrighty, I was thinking fluid too, especially the cold problem going away as it warms up. I have all the paperwork from my ex's mom going back to 2002, I'll see if it got the fluid changed regularly as well..if they kept up on it I may go ahead and replace it this weekend, otherwise we'll just see what level it's at. Thanks guys.

Been a good while but I finally got around to actually putting those shackles on lol. November and December were crazy at work, 50 and 60 hour weeks and that left me exhausted and not really wanting to leave my cave (main reason I'm ready for a house with a garage instead of going across town to my storage unit) and so far this year I've been really unmotivated to work on either vehicle lately (mostly due to the Honda's stubbornness with a few things) but I've finally made headway with both vehicles and motivation is coming back.

I took the X over to my buddy Jerry, he has a huge garage and tons of tools, as well as way more experience to help me so I don't kill myself. He got the shackles on in about 20 minutes or so, and then asked if I wanted to head down the road and try them out. I've never driven off road, and I figured I'd get the damn thing stuck, so he offered to drive. Again, much more experienced guy, and he is the only person I trust to drive any of my vehicles...so I said alright. Gotta say, I was impressed by the Xterra, and I imagine part of it was his skill but he made that thing move through the mud like it was nothing. He actually said he was really surprised by it, especially being 2WD and with no locker...said the tires were a good choice and he gave it a 10/10 for not being 4WD or anything he traditionally would off road with. Made me pretty happy to hear it. If he's willing to let me borrow his garage again next weekend, I may be able to knock the body lift out..although then I have to find some bigger tires.

Anyway, here's a few pictures.

Mine's always done that. You should see the thing move in rush hour traffic.

Update...

I warned you guys that I'm slow to progress, and I don't do forums much lol..but I figured I'd update this thing with all I've gotten done. Let's see...last updates I made were the shackles. So, since then I've done the body lift, threw some 33s on it, and drb gifted me a roof rack with some lights. I also went to nXm3 and did a little bit of work under the watchful eye of drb. So, now to throw a ton of pictures up...

A few from nXm.

My broken engine mount, happened towards the end of the trail we did on the first day.

Parked at my buddy's apartment where we swapped in a Rugged Rocks mount (thanks drb)

The Damage

Other than the broken mount, and the exhaust hanger getting bent from the transmission going sideways, this is the only damage (as far as I know)

My trip to South Dakota last winter, where I did the body lift with my grandfather.

Just chillin.

Stuck in a motel on my way home..was when we had that polar vortex crap, Xterra was running fine on the road but I had a pretty endless line of cars in the ditch and idiots flying around me (who I then later saw in the ditch)

Safely home.

Got the 33s on, and my buddy Jerry that sold them to me doing Jerry things in his Jerry rigged Yota.

Bumper back on (still haven't fixed this)

Selfie.

My buddy Evan's Jeep and the X, hanging out. We're all buddies, even our trucks.

In non-Xterra news, I did finally get the Honda up and running, so it lives.

However, I won't be driving it until I get the alternator to charge and I need to tighten up the timing belt, has too much slop right now and I don't care to jump a tooth after all the pain in the ass doing the head gasket was.

So that's how things have gone since I last posted on here lol. I'll probably be a little more active now, hoping to add a better antenna, do something permanent with the CB, wire up the lights for the rack drb gave me, and hopefully begin collecting pieces for the 4WD swap.

Glad to be back, everyone!
