Sci-Fi Geekin', what you like, why, how does it affect the way you play?

This thread has been silent for too long.

I need to spend a few hours setting things up but here's a preview of my geekiness:

That's not even half of the madness; the rest is still in boxes under the bench.

I finally unpacked them after almost twenty years in storage. I think that there are about 50-60 Star Trek figures and well over a hundred Star Wars figures. I also have about 30-40 assorted vehicles from both series.

I have a lazy weekend ahead of me, maybe it's time to break them out properly.

Rok, you could seriously upgrade the X if you sold some of that. I'm not saying you should, but you could.

Been a bit of a geek my whole life. I've loved Star Wars from the minute I saw it around age 6. That's the franchise that has stuck with me the most.

I was huge into Harry Potter from about 10 years old until the last movie came out. I still re read the books on occasion.

I along with almost every other kid loved Pokemon back when it blew up. I bought a DS just to play Pokemon Diamond and later White. I will admit that I still replay Red or Blue about once a year or so. I know those games like the back of my hand.

Rok those Star Wars figures are awesome! I wish I still had the X Wing and Millenium Falcon (along with others) I had when I was younger. I also had the Outrider that Dash Rendar used in Shadows of the Empire which is still one of my favorite Star Wars games.

It's crazy what fellow geeks will pay for this stuff. I paid retail for all of mine and I don't ever plan to sell any of it... it's fun to check Ebay every once in a while to see what it's worth though.

I almost forgot about the Marvel 10" collection. I couldn't get them all into the shots but this is most of them:

I'm pretty sure that I have all of the Shadows stuff. That was a cool part of the Star Wars timeline that never made it to the mainstream releases.

I'm seriously envious of the Star Wars stash. Those shelves look like Christmas 1980 at my house. Good times and good memories. I sold all my stuff for a small fortune a long time ago. I could sell it for a large fortune now. I wish I still had it all. I miss my Millenium Falcon most.

One of these days I'll have to take pictures of my metric crap-ton of comic books. There's more boxes than I care to admit. I need to take one box at a time and have them sent off to be cased and graded. I'm sure I'm sitting on a small fortune, but I don't have time to really find out.

Hhaha.. This is one of the best threads yet. I was home schooled so my geek level was set before I had a chance to even decide if I liked geek stuff. I grew up on star wars, star trek, My firts large books that I read were The Hobbit and then Lord of the Rings. I was a total game of thrones geek waaay before it was "cool" I had read the books and when I saw they were making a show I almost wet myself.
I also delight in the occasional Halo series of games and books. I wish I had more time these days for my geek impulses but I spend most of my time tooling around the garage on my truck and motorcycle...I guys I went a little "Bro" in my old age but my inner Geek is always rearing its head...

I was brought up a geek I guess. I can remember being about 3 years old and staying up at night with my great grandmother and my mom and watching star trek and the twilight zone, and the original battlestar. I got into dr who when I was about 5, but that died off in the 90's because you just couldnt find anywhere to watch it. at that point I got into red dwarf and monty python and anime. Just recently found a copy of the first anime I really got into outside of the stuff you could watch on tv. In the late 90's and early 2000's I got really into building computers and somewhat into pc gaming, but mostly just built them for the sake of building them, overclocking them and benchmarking. It started off a cheap hobby and turned into a bit of an expensive obsession, I would say if you added up the hours I probably spent weeks if not months running the various 3dmark programs over and over trying to squeeze the last little bit out of my computers. I kind of gave up on it when I got married and got into modding cars

Omg this thread is akin to AA for geeks!

Where do I start? Well, I used to tabletop play andhave even LARP'd a few times in college. I was really into Warhammer 40k and loved reading thebooks. I still have my tyranid army. I'll try to post pics later.
When I was younger I even went to some Star Trek conventions.
I grew up playing with the original Star Wars action figures that my dad collected. And thus grew up loving Star Trek, Babylon 5, Battlestar Gallactica, Dr Who, etc. I also enjoy anime. Ergo proxy is probably my fav.
I am IT stupid, so no online gaming for me.

I saw that and got excited, I like how they kept the overall design the same but made changes to the engine inlets and the wing tips. I built 2 X-Wing models as a kid, but my favorite was the Y-Wing for the same reason the A-10 Warthog is my favorite jet, they're ugly as hell, but they blow crap up and can take a licking while doing it.

Star Wars has always been my main geek thing. When I was younger, I watched the old ones until I broke the VHS tapes. I had almost every toy from the first movies and got all of the new ones when the new movies came out. I had the Star Wars encyclopedia and read that every chance I had lol. I transitioned into MTG from a friends suggestion and got heavily into that and still play it on occasion. I was always an avid gamer too, playing through every console system from the NES on up (SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Gamegear, Gameboy (all of them lol), N64, PS1, Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3 but stopped there. I got super competitive with the 360 and played on an MLG squad for MW2 and MW3. Intermixed into the consoles, I got into PC gaming with Diablo and Warcraft. I pretty much stuck to being a Blizzard fanboy and when WoW came out, crap, it was all down hill from there. I definitely had an addiction to it, and it severely affected my life in many negative ways, mainly being socially reclusive and morbidly obese. It gave me a few life RL friends, but I'm proud to say I've been WoW free for over 3 years. I'm also a pretty big Marvel fan, and owned every Iron Man comic from the original series up to 100 before selling them. It's interesting to see all my comic book icons becoming mainstream in movies now and evolving out of the nerdy genre. Oh yeah, I also did DandD for a couple of years. We'd go to Walmart and load up on Mountain Dews and hot pockets and play for hours, taking occasional breaks for Goldeneye for Diablo 2. I also watched Gundam Wing and DBZ religiously. I think it was 2 years ago that I even went back and watched the whole DBZ series again just for fun.

I may get an Xbox One in the somewhat near future, but with the Xterra taking the bulk of my free money for a while, I doubt it will be soon.
