Sci-Fi Geekin', what you like, why, how does it affect the way you play?

I've been noticing that most of us in an X are sci-fi geeks. Even locals with their pov who don't wheel, trail run, or otherwise off-road often seem to have something geekish. Yesterday, i saw a Gen 2 on post with the Battlestar Galactica crest on the rear window. And, it turned out to be a full bird who laughed and said, conspiratorially, "I Love the Edward James Olmos Adama!"... So i got to thinking....
I'm a concrete geek and love most all things geek. Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar, Bab 5, Firefly/Serenity, and many others as well as what I read. It influenced my areas of academic and fun interest, although not my choice of profession as such, hobbies (astronomy, amateur radio, cb, computer geeking), and even clothing. I own and wear the old brown Battlestar Galactica jacket when it gets chilly in the Fall and early Spring. I've named most of my vehicles either directly after something in the genre or close. My old Saab 9000 Turbo was Red 5. My X is the xTARDIS, even the official license plate!
So, let your geek flag fly with pride and speak out! Who else is an open geek and how does it affect your X?

I definitely classify myself as a geek on many levels. I'm not so far as to have memorabilia or action figures but not to say I wouldn't if I had the scratch.

My Xterra has two notable geek things going on starting with my resident evil umbrella corp decals I rock on both sides.

I'm also rocking a gears of war emblem on my rad skid that has held up remarkably well.

Definitely a geek here.

But its more into the Star Wars area than anything else. I've played and beaten any and all games I can get my hands on. And actually, the newest SW game to hit PC, even made me build my own gaming rig at the age of 16.

Currently the only sticker im rocking on my X is the Rebel Alliance emblem. But there will definitely be more to come.

My rig is Mandalorian and rocks the Mandalorian skulls. Allegiance to nobody. I am currently working with the Empire for some bounties so I badged with the Imperial insignia to allow me passage through Imperial star systems.

I don't know that I have ever written anything so geeky in my life.

Pffft I was the original Fett. Are we going to have a Fett-off?!

But back to the post:

The three best trilogies: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future; Skyrim, zombies, Legos, Nerf, Diablo II, Halo.

I have Star Wars and zombie stuff in / on the X, and I should probably start keeping some Nerf guns in there...I think this should speak for itself:

Geekism is on the rise in general, especially in the 18-30 set. It is now cool to be geeky. Even ten years ago, the jock was king of the lunchroom.

That said, I'm a huge fan of the BattleTech/MechWarrior universe and of giant robots in general. I'm not really into anime but I loves me my Gundam models:

Geek status over here too!!! I love comics, rpgs, action figures. I never got into mmos but I will prolly soon being as there are bringin them to consoles. Elder Scrolls online looks amazing and I will be picking it up. I also went to comic con in san Diego last year, I wanted to go again this year but it's too damn expensive. The guy who helped run the con in san diego is bringing a con to san antonio in october and I already bought my vip walking dead tickets

Put me on that list too! Star Wars, Star Trek, Japanamation, etc. Never got big into Dr Who or Battlestar. I've got crates upon crates of comic books and some really valuable ones at that.

As it is obvious, I'm a huge Futurama fan. I love the nerd humor.

As far as the X goes, I've got a custom Star Trek zombie sticker and I'm rocking the Jedi logo on the hatch. The Jedi are my favorite organization to base life on. Intelligent, logical, and badass. Never on the offensive. But if you come at me, don't miss. Because I will end you.

Used to be into PC games a lot. Just don't have time anymore. And I miss the old CS days with a passion.

And Game of Thrones of course. I'm a huge Thronie. I'm thinking about rereading the books

I had my doubts about the show when I saw previews on HBO. I've never been a big "Medieval" fan. But my wife started the first book, and then demanded that I download every episode. So I did. And now I am counting the seconds to the S4 premiere. The writing is brilliant the story telling is top notch and its very well acted. I don't know who has seen what so I'll reserve my specific outrage/contempt/WTFever is going to happen....

As far as the books go......or books in general for that matter.....I really want to like reading long books. I want to have the time for it. I do read more since I bought an iPad, but I still can't find the time or drive to pick up a 3" thick book and dive in.

Last time I did that was Michael Crichton's Timeline. Could NOT put it down. Which was about two years before the movie with Paul Walker came out. Which was a horrible disgrace to novel adaptations.

/and also another medieval story
//closet medievalite?

I'm just jealous of the genetic predisposition to wear a kilt. And have a family crest. And all the other such craziness that comes from being rooted there. If I wore a kilt I'd be hunted down like a rabid animal.

Unless you're worried about family or friends hunting you down you're safe. What most people wear isn't a "traditional" kilt it's a utilikilt. Check out sportkilt.com they have several options for kilts. I actually own two different styles I have there comfy kilt and the full blown ultilikilt and love em both.

Yep, sportkilt rocks. And, they're very affordable! I have the Gunn and the Royal Purple (Pride of Scotland). It's cooler than a Fez!

See..... I can't do it. Just because I know it's wrong. I have absolutely no heritage whatsoever to the British Isles. It would just be an insult to those that do.

No, not at all. It's clothing. So long as you're respectful, none of us with such heritage will care at all. And remember, every culture has had such a male garment. But, it's all good if it ain't yer thang, baby!

That's why I made the distinction about it not being a "traditional" kilt. You would actually be surprised at the number of people who have the heritage that look at me crazy because I wear it as much as I do. I've actually met guys who were Scots serving in the British military and they thought I was "looney" for wearing it. They don't feel disrespected they were just surprised someone would wear it for something besides a formal occasion or something where it was called for traditional like the Scottish Highland Games.

Hey Diadaga, maybe you n Prime could meet up n you can show him how great sportkilts look. Aaaaaaand... Speaking of the Highland Games... Maybe one year we could all meet for the games in Mesa, AZ? I used to LOVE going to those when i lived in that area of Tatooine. Great group of people!

Who's up for San Antonio comicon?

I was planning to wear it last year at nXm but I wasn't able to stay for the festivities. Would love to go to comicon but right now I don't have the money to go nerd out anywhere.
