Here's my new bumper from RLC. As of now it's the only one but James will be producing these so one may show up on an Xterra near you. It was late when I took this so it's kind of dark, plus the angle makes it look lower than it actually is. I'll put up a better picture soon.

Are there Second Gen's in the works?

If someone could take a second gen to him for measurements I'm sure he would be glad to add them. What I did was take all my plastic off beforehand. Then when I got to his shop all I had to do was take the actual bumper and the lower cross piece off. I got there around 3:00PM on Thursday and he took lots of measurements and fabbed up the lower mounts and the winch plate. He formulated a plan of how he was going to design it but after I left that night he rethought it and came up with the current design.

James wanted a design that wouldn't look like anything currently available. What he came up with is a design that is easily recognizable as HIS design. It was a lot of fun watching as he would have ideas pop into his head then study it from every angle and visualize how to make it work.

The BEST way to get him to do a second gen bumper would be to contact him to schedule a good time to bring your X then plan on having it available for him at least two full days. I went there not knowing what to expect and not thinking I'd be driving home with the first one mounted up. Saturday when he asked if I was planning on driving home with it on, I was a little surprised and said sure, I'd love to if that's a possibility. He said he just needed to grind a little and make a jig and I'd be good to go. To say I was thrilled is an understatement.

If someone can get a second gen to him, there's a Best Western maybe two miles or less from the shop so you're not driving all over without a bumper. If you take a bike or someone with a second vehicle you could check out the area or you could hang out in his way all day like I did.

Awesome news on #2.

I thought about dark grey too. It would show the design of the bumper better. If I go that route I think I would have the top bar over the winch area silver to really complement the grill. Maybe I'll rattle can it that way to see how it looks before deciding.

I would highly recommend AGAINST taking your bumper off before hand on a 2nd Gen. It's way too easy to take off to need to take it off beforehand to save time. I'm speaking from experience. IF you take it off beforehand you'll end up having a problem with the plastic fender wells like I did after taking it off and driving around. I had to use bungies to hold them back from grinding on the tire.

Oh wow. Yeah that would definitely be a bad idea on a second gen. I didn't realize they were made that way. Maybe just try to PB the bumper bolts if you can get to them so there's no surprising stuck bolts when you get there.

They're four inch. He can do any size that will fit in that area though. They will be spaced an inch or two wider than these. The holes were cut before all the bracing was in and he ended up needing to "c" notch a brace a little for light clearance on this one.

I am interested in one of these for my 01. I can make it to KY in just a couple of hours. Where do I go to order one?

I got the lights where I work. Sorry for being slow. I've been driving to Florida all day. These are what I'm using. If you'll have lights before you go get the bumper I'd recommend asking James to wait till you get there to weld those tabs on. Since there are so many variations in the way different ones mount all he can do is a best guess. I guess that's why some manufacturers sell one kind of light and say you have to use those.

When I have the cash, I am going to get him to design me a tube bumper similar to Odin's rig, but with a slightly wider stinger to fit 3 lights.. one day gents.. one day
