How do you like the 5125s in the rear with the Radflo fronts?

Also, have you noticed any change in axle wrap with your shocks mounted so high on the rear axle?

No issues with wrap. The stiffness of the leafs make sure that it stays put.

As far as the shocks, no clue. One is completely blown out and I just haven't gotten around to installing my new upper mounts and Rads for the rear. shiat is sitting in the garage.

OK. I'm going to completely gut and rebuild the audio system in the truck. The Android head unit was novel. But I want Android Auto. And a radio that doesn't take 10 minutes to boot up and only do Bluetooth. And for my steering wheel controls to work again.

I have the old 5 channel Infinity amp that was in the 1st Gen. I also have a 10" JL sub that I used to run.

My RF amp in the truck is dying. I routinely get static and alternator noise on the rear left channel.

I have a plan.

New name brand head unit with Android auto. Mount the 5 channel amp under the seat where the stock RF amp is. Replace the front stage with an Infinity component set to match what I put in the rear doors. A lot of new wiring.

Android Auto means that the phone no longer needs to be mounted in line of sight. That platform can do Spotify, Waze, & Gaia. Everything I need the phone for.

The problem is that I don't really have a place to put the 10" JL in the truck. Focal makes an 8" sub that will fit in the stock enclosure under the drivers seat and has the power handling characteristics to match the sub output of the Infinity amp. So that's going to be my initial attempt. If that sub situation doesn't work, I'll figure out something with the JL. If it does, I'll sell the JL.

Stay tuned.

I put a little powered JBL sub under the driver's seat of the '06. Works pretty good, albeit not as nice of a system as what you're plotting.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Did you not get AA working with your unit? I run a Carlinkit so I get AA, but can also run native apps when I need them.

And my steering wheel controls work fine, I wired them straight into the unit, didnt even need the Axxis adapter.

Now, there are other reasons I would consider ditching mine, like the random crashing of the touch-screen driver requiring me to reboot the unit...

Mine isn't new enough. And there's so little RAM and ROM that every time I try to run a native app it takes forever to load. I used to download my Spotify Playlist to an SD card in the radio. But now with unlimited data, and the fact that Spotify deletes it's downloads every few weeks and I have to connect the unit to Wi-Fi in order to download again. It's just frustrating. I want it to be good. I just don't feel like it's there.

And then there's the quality of the audio suite. A real radio will have better crossovers / EQs and DACs. Plus discreet subwoofer control. I miss that kind of fine tuning.

So. This weekends dilemma. Unexpected Xmas tree on the dash.
PXL_20240216_191539771_copy_2040x1536.jpg

Dealer scanned it with the Consult. (I want one) turns out it was throwing a code for the locker controller under the dash.

$900 dealer (nope)
$100 online junk yard (maybe)
$20 local pick-n-pull (say less)

Yard about an hour away had 1 2012 Pro4X. They had just put it out there two days ago. So probably hadn't been stripped. Turns out it's the exact same part number from 05-12.

So. A long day and $20 later, all is well. No Xmas tree and all the safety controls that this POS has to offer.

$800 worth of clutch parts. Waiting on the pilot bearing & alignment tool. Looks like I'm going to save $2k and tackle it myself over at my buddies house since he has a transmission jack. And with the body lift, getting to the upper stuff won't be as difficult.
What kind of clutch and flywheel are you replacing it with? I always found oem and the dual mass flywheel to be terrible feeling and I hate the catch point setting. I know it is a bit adjustable but then the cruise control doesn't work right because the switch won't reach. A friend of mine did his Frontier with aftermarket and has been singing praises on how it is so much better, feels like a completely different vehicle etc. etc.

Ok. So. The factory clutch made it 130k. When it went I put in a Jim Wolf organic clutch and single mass flywheel. And I loved the feel and friction point. But. That was only 40k ago. And now it's done. While I agree that the factory clutch may not feel the best (and I agree that the friction point is stupid all the way at the top of the pedal). OE is what's going back in.

Damn! I’m at 134k and still have decent feel. Bought the 2” BL couple years ago in expectation to go to 35’s. Maybe just puck it up anyway to prep for the clutch job? Been wondering which way to go for the new parts.
