New X owner - Hello from Kentucky

First Fill-Up (of many)
Joined a few X forums already, might as well give everyone a try. Been reading this one some the last couple days, and drbandkgb also gave me a tiny nudge this direction by providing some links to X sites, might as well make it official.

I purchased a 2011 Xterra PRO-4X 6-speed manual a few days ago.

My prior daily driver, a Ford Escape, was totaled after an unfortunate incident with a suicidal deer, but given the new ride I ended up with, might not have been a totally bad thing, although quite a hassle and unpleasant experience at first.

I have been wanting an X for years. It was a toss up between the X and a Frontier for a while, but I prefer an SUV overall, so I started searching hard for an X and came up with one about 120 miles away, made the trip and everything worked out to where I drove it home. I'm loving it so far, it's actually better than I expected in many regards.

Here it is, no mods at all yet. Once the new smell wears off might start making some personal touches. I think first thing I'd like is to black out the silver grille color.

Thank you for giving us a shot...

Dang deer... But really I think they helped you up-grade :)

We have a few members in your area on here.. Like I posted on CX.. You have bought the king of Xterras enjoy it.
Also I may have built those mirrors on that Xterra :) I worked at the plant for the 2011/2012 models :)

and for blacking out stuff.. Plasti-dip... Lits easy to do and if you get bord with it.. It peels right off...

Welcome to XN man. The community here is awesome. You'll hear talk about how one forum is better than another but we're all Xers and each place has it's own good points. Enjoy the site!

Oh, and there are a few Xers in the Bowling Green area. Aaronsx, you're not going to be the only BG X anymore ;)

Thanks for the welcome! Still soaking in all the X related stuff. Not sure how brave I'll be with it yet, it does still smell new so I'm probably going to be overprotective of it for a while just yet. However I think if you got something you should use it, and I got it cause I like to go camping and explore back roads among other things, my Escape wasn't the best at that, so the X is going to have to fulfill it's role someday.

Good to see a few locals on here. Hey Aaron maybe we will cross paths. I've been wanting to check out the Wishbone Ranch one day, have you been there?

I sure have been to wishbone ranch. They have some stuff for the average 4x4s then they have crazy rock crawling stuff. I went down there a few months ago (fyi I am just 4x2) and got stuck in some mud. Wasn't to bad my tires just filled up. The guy out there who drives the red cherokee is really nice infact he let me go out on the trails that day for free cause he knew I was going to get stuck and want to leave cause it had rained the day before.

Maybe we will cross paths sometime. You make the 4th X member that I know of.
Me, 19kdrill, xterradude05, & you. Maybe we will have a meet n great soon.

Edit: My adventure thread in my signature below shows some of the places I like to get into.

Welcome to the Nation! No need to wait for the new car smell to fade! I bolted up some sliders the first week I got mine! Get crackin!

I kid. It's great to have you aboard. Again, welcome!

Good tip, had heard of the stuff and was anxious to try it.

First mod! Not much but it totally makes the front look better. Wasn't quite dry in the pic I don't think, I'm hoping the color will even out:
