If you've read my build thread recently then you know my X is sitting in my garage on jack stands, totaled. I can't decide if I should just let it go and take the $7700 or keep it, take the $4950, fix it and SAS it.

I just read through the thread, but couldn't actually tell 100% what is all broken. I personally have an attachment to my vehicles, especially since they've always gotten the job done when I need them. That said, I'd have a hard time getting rid of a truck if it is salvageable. Depending if you want to drive it again, you'll have to consider getting the title changed again if insurance has already deemed it totaled/salvage.

SAS takes time, planning, and lots of help. Expect a minimum of 2 weeks of down time, even with expert mechanic buddies. I'm not trying to discourage/encourage one option over the other right now.

If you have enough vehicles, 5k should make a huge dent at SASing it. I think the bigger issue is what's involved with getting a salvaged vehicle legal to drive on the road.

Oh I know it'll take a lot of time. I've got plenty of good help and access to all the tools and equipment I'll need.

Our only other vehicle right now is a lifted XJ. I'm gonna have to spend some money on it to make it a bit more street friendly regardless of whether or not I keep the X.

And then of course there is always the option of just leaving it IFS and fixing what's broken.

BUAHAHAHA! Sh** it owes me money with the IFS.

The totaled to legal is what I would be ered on. But SAS it!

Could always buy another X, part out the totaled, and have a steady flow of mod money come in for the sas...

What color is the interior ;P

Well I've decided to just let it go. However I've found a black '02 s/c X for sale for pretty cheap

You're gonna take the $7700 and get rid of the old one. Use the cash to buy an '02 then use what's left (if any) plus add to it to SAS the new? is that what you're saying?

If your intention is to SAS somethng, wouldn't it be cheaper in the long run to take the $4950 add to it and SAS/fix the old? Yes you have to remove what's there but you have $4950 to start with rather than nothing and no vehicle at all.
But that's just my thinking.
