Like most abandoning the TheNewX after their latest money grab I came over here by suggestion and it seemed like many of the NewX vets we're heading this direction. My name is Cal an d I am 25 years old. I am active duty US Air Force and I live in Virginia. I am also a volunteer EMT-B, a volunteer Fire Fighter, a NWS Certified Storm Chaser (Skywarn), and soon to be a CPR instructor as of the end of this month when I attend the instructor class. I work in the Air Force as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. As you can see I am very interested in medicine and all things healthcare so in the future, 2015 when my contract expires, I would like to use my GI Bill to go to college as either a nurse or a physician's assitant (and im not sure which yet).

I have a Red Brawn 2006 Xterra SE. I am very new to the modding community and I like to mod in moderation rather than going all out - I never see myself going on any of the rock climb trails I see pictures of people going on. The last thing I've done was remove the stock mud flaps, remove the stock running boards, and stealth the wheels with black plasti dip. Soon I'll be raising the X up 2 inches via an add-a-leaf lift from Nisstec (gotta buy tha tonight actually).
I'm at work currently and these government computers are really fickle so I'll post some pictures tonight when I get home. :)

Welcome from Tennessee...EMT-IV, resident Skywarn Spotter/XTerra Meteorologist (informally, of course). Official Trail Medic. I was a Volly FF for 9 years, and a career FF for 1. There are a few more of us running around here, too...

Anyway, welcome.

Awesome. I will be sure to hook up with most of you then :)

I've been in EMS/Fire for about 8 years...and I don't want to be braggy (although intro's might be for that sort of thing) but I have always taken a lot of pride in it. The whole Skywarn thing is pretty new but fun. Honestly the CPR thing is probably just to raise my EPR levels to a 5. They hang around 4 right now. Seems like it would be cool.

Love having more VA X's on XN. Welcome!

What part of VA are you in? Down in the Hampton Roads area here. Are you coming to nXm this year? You should. It'll be epic.

Hello and Welcome to a seriously cool crew of humans. If you ever pcs to Holoman AFB, be sure to holler at me and we'll go play in the sand. I'm assuming you're also a Ham? If so, maybe we'll talk on the air someday. Enjoy the group!

Welcome to XN. I was a volunteer firefighter for three years but that was many years ago. It's always reassuring to have someone who knows what to do in a medical emergency when you're on the trail.

Sure thing. I doubt I'll ever PCS though. In my AFSC Langley is known as a black hole. No one ever leaves....unless they get sent to Elemendorf (which would be cool...but I don't want to go to Alaska haha). I've never gotten into Ham Radio, never tried it and to be honest I know very very little about it. For example what do you do on a ham radio? I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of a CB radio lol. Outside of a 911 radio...I'm clueless on radio..and to be honest even that's pushing it. I had a hell of a time programming my trunking radios.

Welcome.

Honestly, becoming a CPR instructor has been one of the best moves of my career. I initially did it just to help out at the local schools and make some cash on the side but it has been an amazing learning experience. If you ever need material or presentations I can hook you up with my Prezi, Keynote, or PowerPoint presentations I have made over the last couple of years. I currently teach ACLS, CPR, PALS, PHTLS, TCCC, and work for Wilderness Medical Associates teaching WALS. My day job is critical care transport as a CC-P, and when duty calls I work for the SWAT team as a TEMS certified medic. Happy to see some more medical peeps over here.

I might just hit you up for that. I'll be teaching Air Force personnel within our respective medical group and hospital. The hospital actually had a serious lack of CPR instructors so it really helps them out.

Thank you for the welcomes everyone!

What he means by that, is that I hate wildland fires with a passion...and by default, he thinks I'm jealous of his red card and boots. Nuh uh.

Ah gotcha. Although I always had to think that bunker gear must be nicer since it's lighter. I have some regular bunker gear in the X's rear and it feels like I could die when wearing it in the summer.

Come to think of it I should take it out. Unless I visit PA I have no use for it in my current state of VA. I haven't even hooked up with a department :-/
