I use an ARB-knockoff deflator but I've seen the automatic deflator like the Staun for years and wondered how they do.

Anyone use them with any luck?

I know many who use them. Once you get the correct air pressure set, they seem to work fine..... provided they don't magically get un-set and let your air pressure down to 8 psi when you thought you had it set to 15.

They work about 20% to 30% faster than your (and my) ARB knockoff. The difference is, at least to me, is that I can choose on the fly what air pressure I'm goin to run based on the terrain I intend to be going into, and set it accordingly.

My take, is that I'll stick firmly in the ARB style one at a time tire deflator arena.

Besides that, I've never been in such a hurry that it ever mattered, and usually end up spending way more time BS'ing with the group anyway, so expediency has never been an issue.

That was kind of my thoughts too. I'm never in a hurry to air down (or up for that matter). So they might be faster and less fuss if they're set right? But I have no problem doing it with the standard gauge deflator.

I had (operative word there) a set of Staun knock offs... didn't hold setting worth a darn. I bought a set of Stauns and reset them from 15 (factory setting) to 20... that took a good hour to do all 4. I love them. They hold their setting, quickly deflate, and are so easy to use.

If they weren't so dang expensive I'd get another set and leave them at 15.

I think y'all basically just reinforced all my points for sticking with the gauge.

Although I may rig up a regulator with a quick disconnect to try something later though....

How many come in a set? Couldnt you realistically set half to 20 and the other to 15? It would take twice as long to deflate all 4 tires, but you would still get the advantage of not having to watch them so you could continue to do other trail prep or chat with buddies.

I also have that style. I've also switched to the arb style as well. I find the core puller style much faster to use, personally.

i tried stauns years ago. they wouldn't stay set. gave them to my brother in law to tinker with. I built a 4 tire deflator/inflator and use that now. super quick and easy.

4 in a set. Yes I could but for me, by the time I get the 4th one on the first one is about done. LOL
