When I first got my Xterra XOC was the place to be for mods, posting , parts etc.
Then after other boards started up, it got stale, a place the newborn Xterra owners flocked to post "What size tire ?" posts. It went offline and came back...but never fuilly recovered.
Taking it's number one slot for Xterra owners was Clubxterra.org....my "go to" place for years. However we saw a deep schism as 2nd gen owners all flocked to "The NewX" many also posted simultaneously as myself on the NEXterra site. A few new sites emerged, some unsuccessful and some successful like "XterraNation " this site offered a refereshing style change and also seemed to keep both Xterra generation owners happy.
I took a few months off from the Xterra boards starting this past July. When I came back I almost didn't recognize ClubXterra....I hate to say it, but it is very very much like XOC was becoming toward the end of it's reign... tons of new people (not a problem if they get guidance and help) with posts that should be answered by FAQ's and /or deleted by mods such as "What size tire..."
It's a shame, as I loved the place and even am a lifetime member. But I am not getting replies to basic questions anymore, things that get replied to here immediately will sit dormant and unanswered there. It's almost like its an unmanned spacecraft in some ways, maybe undermanned? Some of the listed mods don't even seem to look at the site anymore.
A lot of my friends are still active mods there and I am not trashing the site. But there is still time to turn this around, if you need help, ask for it...there are many people who will do so. Also if people are listed as mods but havent been active on the site in many many months, is it time to remove and replace them? Kelly and Xterra Mike are the only ones I see actively post as mods there.
Anyway just curious who else is picking up this vibe?
