So I'm in the midst of adding my cb to my rig and still need to pick up an antenna.
But I also need to be able to get into my garage as well parking garages, so short of removing it when i go in the garages. Im Looking for one that can get nocked around a bit and keep ticking. That or some sort of fold down ive seen a few but dont know what they do to the signal. I saw someone either here or one of the other sites has a fully flexible antenna but cant remember who it was or where it was.

I have this, the firefly, and I love it. I have beat mine to death, dvd it have never been untuned or what not from being beaten up.

I also like it because I can bend it into my loadwarrior on to of my X, and kinda got into garages.

I highly recommend this antenna.

Any top tuneable is better than a non-tuneable one any day. I had one but broke the top off 1 week after I bought it. I was pissed so I didn't buy a new one. Firestix's rep is great.

I have this antenna and have beat and bounced off of bunches of trees and overhangs at drive through. Mine is mounted on a spring and I keep a loop of paracord in the back and when I have to get in my garage I just bend the antenna over at the spring and use the loop to secure it to the rear wiper arm. Works great.

I also have the Firestik spring, but Racer, thats a great idea. I need to do that.

Did you use the firestik mount and mount yours above the taillight?

I have that same mount, as does drbandkgb, but I used a self tapping screw, and put three screws in. it holds rather well. And that door jam mount is sweet.

Did you run your antenna down and then into the taillight, then behind the taillight, and through the cab?

Drilled a whole in the body where the hatch recesses in and mounted a grommet in the whole to protect the cable. Once inside it runs behind the drivers side rear interior panel and then under the carpet and center console.

I ran mine how I stated, behind the taillight, through the rubber grommet and then snaked it until it ended under my drivers seat, aka my cb location

This mount? Im in a tight situation, That bottom screw was loose and I attempted to put a nut on the back of it, when I did so It ran the screw towards my body. Now its pushing on the body but it doesn't move anymore :)

Ok, so far so good here guys, I did find a Wilson Flexible antenna, anyone know anything about them? I dont like the idea of frying my cb if im dumb one day and turn it on folded down so im thinking thats out.
Also is there anything special about the antenna mounts? Could I possibly make my own? I'm thinking either use the door jamb one everyone seems to have, or make something of my own if possible

Yeah yeah someday...Have to remember...we have like zero tools at my house....I buy them all so this means buying a drill which I don't have $ for right now. For now the mount is fine but Ill fix it sooner or later.

I have a Wilson 1000 antenna. It works really well. It's on a magnet mount.

A spring helps it handle the rough trails better and normally the are cheap. I actually removed mine because for what ever reason I got better reception & transmission without it.

If you are getting the whip antenna I wouldnt worry about it. The fire stick you might, but keep in mind depending upon where you mount it with a sping it could bounce off the truck.

^ what he said. But that's where a tennis ball comes in handy if the antenna starts bouncing off of your truck.

Just drill trip holes through a tennis back and slide it down the antenna to where it was hitting your truck

I just realized that the above statement said drool.. not drill, I apologize. I blame my phone

Had a firestick 4' with quick disco and medium duty spring. That thing use to fly everywhere! Even on the highway. Make sure you get the heavy duty and you should be really good. And if you mount it on the hatch mount right above the rear brae light, the swinging usually goes right past the body.

I use to have a tennis ball in mine. Worked well, but after getting so annoyed with the height of the antenna, I opted for a 3'er with the quick disco and hd spring. Still has enough give for tree branches and gets mostly 65% above my hood line. Very happy with the setup.
