As per my door jam sticker 255/65/16 is the stock size for a v6 SE which is about 29" tire STOCK. since I went up to 265/70/16 which is 30.9" I should be running 4.9 gears for a stock ratio. So if I want to go to 33s I would need to be at 5.13 gears to be at stock ratio. That would allow me to get back to 17 mpg highway and run bigger tires

Don't expect to run lager tires and get 17mpgs though.. You have to take into count they are heavier tires..
and not by a little.. in some cases 20lbs per tire

My 00 came with 29's and 4.6 gears. 33's with my automatic are kind of sad to drive around. Ive got diffs with 4.9's waiting to be installed and hoping the change is noticeable on the highway. As for weight. My stock size on factory rims was right around 60lbs. My 33 mtr's on steel wheels is right around 100lbs.

yes Prime is right theres different gears for the H223b but nothing deeper for the front other then 5.13 you would have to do a solid axle like Steevo has.

oh ok i see...im ways away from SAS. maybe one day

I don't plan on SASing. Never did. I don't wheel enough to justify it. I don't even wheel enough to justify 35s, but damn it, I want them. Because, who wouldn't want to say, "Yeah, I've got an XTerra on 35s.."

I have F/R 5.13's waiting to go in....but I got them when I was running 33's on a 5 spd with 4.6 diffs.

I gave my '01 to a friend in need, and bought a 2004 auto to replace it. As the friend was making a rock buggy out of the '01, I took my ARB locked 4.6 diff on a dropped cradle, out of the X, and put it into the garage.

So, I now have a collection of mismatched parts.

I have three front diffs, two with 4.6, (One 4.6 has the ARB) and one with 4.9.

I have two rear axles, a 4.6 and a 4.9.

The 2004 has 4.9's (it came with them).

My wife's arthritis is making her want to stop driving her manual wrangler, and get an auto AWD car....which means I'll be inheriting the wrangler (2008 JK 4d).

Soooo, I have completely lost track of my mod path at this point.

Anybody need some spare parts?
