Update to the LED backup light install from yesterday.

Backed out of the garage at 4:30 this am and wow, very bright (30 smd led's) and better than stock (only like $12 shipped).
I already ordered some 68 smd lamps now after seeing how deep backup light housings are and will try those out too.

Oh, and also ordered some complete new LED tail light housings too, damn eBay !

Just the replacement bulbs in LED. I was leery about buying any, as the first ones were lousy lighting, much less than the standard bulb output.

Then I saw these in smd type led's, so much brighter and for the cost didn't think I could go wrong.
Hope this link will work, posting from the phone.
Don't know if gen1 bulbs are the same or not...(921 base)

Here's the ones I'm trying next. If their dimensions are correct, they will fit, and double the output? Ought to be bright. Will post up the results when I get them.

just (emphasizing JUST) finished doing rear diff/axle breather extension mod...nice and painless install, even in the 15F windchill ;)

I'd read tons of stories about people having to fight to get the new fitting in, and all kinds of other issues, I got the first thread to bite with my fingertips to make sure it wasn't cross threading, slapped the 12mm deep well socket on it and cranked it all the way down, almost easier than I got the old one out. I also used a bit of forethought when I did it...I laid down some stuff to flex the drivers side of the axle up so that the passenger side would be at least partially flexed downward, so that if I left some slack in the line, I was guaranteed to be safe. I'd go take some pictures for ya'll but, I can't feel my fingers, my face, or my Bravo Alpha Eleven Sierras....one should not decide to mod outside (not in a garage or anything) when the snow is almost falling sideways from the wind...

Haha that's funny. You guys suck! We get no snow or moisture or anything and we're so close! Well sorta close.

On another note. What does the rear diff breather mod accomplish?

Nothing too exciting for me got my cb antenna stuff yesterday! Flattened out my cb mount, and discovered that I now need to freaking solder the antenna cable grr. More stuff I need to pick up. But we're getting there.

Sent from the Nighthog mobile command unit.

Got a yellow top optima... For free! I work at an interstate all battery center and every employee gets one free battery per year. I also get all batteries at cost.

Dang, lucky! I was just shopping for a yellow top, looks like I will be spending over $200 though.

I was searching for the most CCA I could fit in the X. My system is very power hungry and eats batteries at the rate of 2 per year. If shipping isn't too bad then I could do that. PM me whenever you find out. Thanks.

there's a long way to explain this, or a short way, the short way is go to TNX and search "rear diff breather mod" cause there's a long thread on it. the longer is this:

on your transfer case, transmission, and front diff (on the 2nd gen) you have a breather tube that comes up into the engine compartment and the intake is near your airbox. on the rear axle you have a little breather valve that's directly on the axle tube (passenger side, about 3-4" closer to the pumpkin from the ABS sensor cable that's attached) now, the facepalm moment is this. if we have extensions on all of the other stuff, why the heck would you NOT extend the rear one as well? so, the mod is to order the same part for the rear axle on the NV van, (same rear axle as the titan and the xterra but it actually has a breather line attached to it) the nissan part number is 38323-C601A. so, you get that, a small filter, and some vaccum/fuel hose (approx 10' just to be safe), pull the old part off, put the new one on, hose clamp the hose in place, zip tie the line along the frame, pull your rear passenger tail light housing off, after feeding the line up through the rear bumper, put the filter onto it, zip tie it to the cords in the tail light housing so it stays put, and put everything back together. the point is that if you go through water/mud/dirt/sand/dust/etc, the stock piece clogs or allows water to get into your gear oil, which is bad either way. by doing the mod you allow the rear diff to breathe like the front diff does. according to the guys that've done it on TNX, they're seeing a 1-2mpg improvement as well, which, I suppose I can rationalize by the vehicle not having as much heat buildup in the rear axle so things stay better lubricated and thus have less friction.

I got very little snow/moisture so far, but, holy crap it was freezing out there....seriously, my hands still ache from doing it and I've already taken a hot shower and soaked for almost 90 minutes in the jacuzzi tub :p

If you'd like to then go for it. I've been doing a lot of reading on it and I think the how to thread would be excellent. The part I'm curious about is a parts list with internet links or parts numbers with store examples. This would be a mod I could easily do this weekend too.

Removed the passenger seat to figure out why in the heck it seemed to be stuck in place [all the levers released, but something was jammed which caused it to not move forward or backward].

Also gave her a quick bath just to shine her back up. Can't wait until spring rolls around. She's going to get the full detail again. Wax and all.

I think I have your answer. I had the same exact problem with my passenger seat, lever seemingly worked and all. While sitting in the seat look closely at the left hinge that holds the back of the seat (where stuff goes if it falls out of your left pant pocket). If you look directly down between the plastic/metal/fabric sandwich there will probably be some type of debris in there. For me it was a quarter, dime and 4 pennies, most of them damaged from trying to force the seat forward or back. They jam the lever that allows the seat to slide on the tracks. If that's not it then the only other thing it can be is the actual lever mechanics not working correctly. Either way, I had to take the seat out to get to the coins. Good Luck!

Oh, I almost forgot, I went and purchased the Lifetime Alignment from Firestone. The mechanic did a wonderful job making sure the alignment was EXACT! He did such a good job I gave him a $20 tip. Gotta love the mechanics who take care of the customer.

Yeah mine was just a syrup substance caked up in there. Good as new now. Also found a Half Dollar, and about $0.73 in change lingering in the places between the console, seat and inside the console. Yay me!

Today the seat went back in after sitting out in the rain last night [ugh, someone forgot to put it in the garage] along with a good vacuuming and Wesley's Bleche White on the tires. Very happy.

Painted the back bumper black to match the front, and rolled the rear fenders to accommodate the 295 70r17s. Nice and tight, but it clears!

So I was at the gas station fililng up and a lady was next to me in a BMW 5-series and she left while I was pumping gas, and I was curious to see how much she paid for gas so I walked over and saw the price, it was $55.64 and the total cost to fill up the X was $54.00 (I was low enough where the fuel light came on)....holy crap! BMW costs more to fill up...
