i can press just shy of 1k :( and im repping 315 on squats. not being a shmuck. my deadlifts just under 500 also. i've never done a one rep max on it though.

Also, may I recommend Protein Rush instead of Muscle Milk. It has half as much fat, and the ready to drink Protein Rush doesn't have the bitter aftertaste that the ready to drink Muscle Milk has.

depending on what your trying to do. if your looking to gain i'd look into some casein if not, look up Nectar protein Vitaminshoppe has it its one of the leanness proteins on the market i take it when i cut for the summer time, then i switch to a nice whey for day and casein at night for the winter time.

Well, I have enough fat to burn, so I don't really need to be adding any unnecessarily. : )

Especially since this is South Louisiana, and nearly everything we eat is fatty. That's been the biggest challenge for me since I started working out and trying to burn some pounds off. At home I can eat reasonably healthy, but going out to dinner with friends or going to friends' houses to eat is kind of a cultural thing here, and when you have a bunch of people over, it's usually for something akin to Cajun or Creole comfort food, and that's never healthy. It's actually easier to eat healthy at restaurants. But I have shed about 20 ponds so far, mostly from cutting back to one or two sodas a week instead of drinking only soda. Starting to see some more definition in my shoulders and chest as well, and improved strength, but I've had to cut back due to some elbow pain the past couple of weeks. Heading to the doctor Wednesday to check it out.

idk about there but here. restaurants have to put calories on every item in the menu now days. it helps when you eat out to control some mishap. you should allow your self one meal to cheat a week to keep the cravings down but rock that diet the rest of the time. healthy food actually taste really good imo. 20lbs is good though j keep it up!

Same here with the caloric count on menus. I think it's a nationwide thing now. I reserve my cheat meals for when I eat at friend's houses or at my mom and dad's. Of course I'm saving all my cheats this month for Thanksgiving.

I'm 5'9 and weighed in at 148.1 in the buff this morning pre-workout. I want to stay the same weight (or gain a little with muscle). My goal is to be able to bench my bodyweight by the first of the year, which is what attracted me to the 5/3/1 regiment.

My goal is to bench my body weight as well, but by summer. My body weight is currently 265. I'm benching a little over 200 right now. My secondary goal is to get my weight down to 235.

Directed To Nismo- the bar that spots you is a smith machine, and the bar weights - 0 lbs if it is one like my gym.

our smith machine bar does have a weight to it. just not a lot. nis your a lot taller than i thought you were. you'll be able to do that in no time! look into 5-5-5-5-5's and other stuff like that. bodybuilding.com has some decent stuff along with men's health im sure you know though.

HA! I haven't been 5'2 since I was 12.


I'm at a new gym that just opened up about a week ago. The regular after work crowd is in there after 5pm, so I try to go between 8-10am so I can actually have access to the weights and not feel rushed. It's kinda nice.

Oh, and I've started a "get home" workout routine where I lift for five to ten minutes when I get home. So far I've done bench press, bicep curls, and tricep pulls. I'm planning on keeping this up on a daily basis so we'll see.

I forgot all about this thread, lol.

I only have 9 more days of P90X left. (hooray, lol). This is my third time now finishing the entire program with no missed days. I've also been doing doubles for the last phase, (adding in the newer P90X plus workouts as well) so I'm working out about 2 1/2 hours everyday. It's friggin awesome. However, I'm so board now, since I know every word and every joke in my sleep, lol.

As soon as I'm done, I'm going to start mixing up a bunch of different systems. Should be fun. There's also some great stuff actually on youtube.

On a related note I started insanity today. I had no intensions on it but my wife wanted me to start with her. It was a good workout! 59 days to go lol

It is a good cardio workout for sure.

I hope you have better luck with it than I did, I was so board I just couldn't get in to it, lol. I may give it another chance in a few weeks though, we'll see. I'm working on leaning way out right now, so I can start building back up, and it will definitely lean you out quick with the right diet.

It's funny you mention not intending to start, because that's similar to how I started P90X. I buddy started it and was telling how hard it was, so I thought I'd at least check out the first video. The first day was so brutal, that i just had to find out what the next day would bring, lol. And so it began and now after completing the whole program 3 times, it seems like child's play, so I'm stepping up to things much crazier.

enjoy that fellers. did it in 29mins and change. my legs were a little jello this week so i had to take lots of breaks.

1200 lbs with a deadlift,squat, and bench with no belt or lifting assistance. i came up a little short. 501 dead, 300 bench and a 315 squat i should of gone more on my squat but i was just being a b*)*h

no because if that was the case i'd almost break the 1200 with just that lol. the 3 lifts are what they use in strongman comps

In my prime I could have beat it just leg press...lol

Never tried deadlift for a max...but, I'd hazard a guess that I should be able to make that 1200 mark totaled....

that's damn good my friend. most people don't break the 800 mark. especially when your getting judge on your rep.

I was a highschool wrestler, so, I focused very heavily on building my legs, at it's peak we got 1100lbs on our sled and then sat our 280lb super heavyweight on it and I did 5 reps with it. Nobody talked ish anymore after that...of course, that was 15 years ago this year....still...

i hit 1100 and change last time we were doing heavy press. and it was 6 reps. we started to run out of 45lb plates but i no longer go to a gym that has an abundant amount of weights.
