Xterra's should never be that far off the ground. LOL

Haha it was awesome! I could really look at the undercarriage better than I could w/ jacks. Guys pointed out some stuff that could use some work and gave me good ideas. I miss it already. Being vehicle-less sucks! Later on they'll fab me up the rest of my skid plates, too. Yayness!

I do like how it's offset to the side. Maybe that will allow you plenty of vision out the rear.

Yeah, my orig plan had it on driver's side. They mentioned seeing out rear better from other side and to not put so much weight on driver's side since, well, all our weight is there, too. Made sense to me. Gas cans go next to tire.

HA, just what I need, more things for the X...back up camera, ahaha! I'd rather a GoPro first :-D
But, once I get all the stuff for my CB, I'll head to the Mucc and we can have a mod day if you want.

A lot of people mount spares to LOW, and it messes up departure angles....a higher mount is better for departure angles. If TOO high though, it messes with your center of gravity....This one looks right to me though.

The offset to the passenger side is OK as far as off setting the driver, but, the gas tank and battery for example are also on that side for the same reason. Offset to the passenger side helps visibility the most though, as that's the primary line of sight for the driver looking back.

True. Very good points. Now I just have to get used to that new blind spot...

Dropped it off at the shop this morning for the final touches. Still need to decide how I should paint it.

On 2nd Gens the gas tank is on the driver's side.

Correct. Apparently my phone sucks at horizontal photos. I'm dog-sitting for the week, so no camera. :-(

Here are more pics. Sorry they're from my phone.

You cannot tell really well from pic, but tire carrier leans back toward the hatch in line w/ the curve of the hatch.

Where the heim is locked at when carrier open. So tire does not hit tail light.

More stickers! Get Some Fab (they even matched my green!) Is the place that made it.

209abde8-7cad-05f8.jpg

Profile. Metal strap over gascan locks it in place. They added a loop where I can fit a padlock, too.

209abde8-7cf9-562b.jpg

Heim joint. Goes past where oem bumper stops so that it could fit gascans.

Painted the base bumper in bedliner (just one quick coat) and shackles green.

Also relocated my license plate. Still not 100% sure where I want it.

And I made sure you can still sorta see my fav sticker :-D

Ok, so the kind of steel used is 120 wall and is estimated to weigh about 250lbs when fully loaded with both gas cans and 33" tire. So, my guess (non-educated at this point) is that it weighs about 120-150lbs empty....I think.

Here is the shop's info in case anyone wants it:

Guy who made bumper is John Hoffman (owner). Kyle Yelton is the manager and very helpful, too.

Damn, with the exception of the T-Handle, I love everything about that bumper! Will GSF be putting these into regular production?

That wheel is dirty girl.

Hahah yeah, well you know me- I'm a dirty girl anyway. But yeah, it was the spare under the rear, so it's a bit dirtier than the others. No bath is in its future either. :p

If you call them and tell them you want the Xterra bumper, then yes, they will make it for you. I gave them the heads up people may contact them from non-local areas.
They have not posted pics on their website yet, but I've been nagging them to do it, haha. I plan to have them make me my skid plates, too. If they are willing, I will ask about sponsor stuff, etc.

Looking good Mel ! Gotta love those Stormtrooping Xs

Heck yeah! We kick bum!! This Stormtrooper will keep on trooping along for as long as it can!
