Hey guys...what's the O.D. of the opening to the airbox for the connection? If it's less than 3 1/4" or the same size as the O.D. of the snorkel (the part that passes thru the fender) I think I solved the connection problem.

I haven't piped mine yet but I think FF X used a 3" hose so my guess is its the same size as the snorkel inlet because I know that one is 3"

Its close to 3 inch. Probably like 2 3/4 or 7/8. I sealed it all with silicone and cranked the hose clamp down tight.

So long as you mod the box to stop up the two inlets and remove the resonator, if you haven't already, stock box is fine. If I still had one (or could find it) I would use it

OK, this is happening tonight - mounting and plumbing. Navara poly snorkel, with K&N apollo enclosed cai. I will be replacing the current K&N setup in my rig, which is the one made to fit the gen1. From initial inspection, it appears I will have to use a 3.5" to 3" hose adaptor to attach the apollo inlet where the current one is attached; there may also need to be an adaptor fashioned to connect the flexible hose to the snork inlet, depending on whether I can use the rubber piece that came with the snork or just go flex hose to snork just behind the hole in the fender. To be continued, with pics, tonight...

ok just trying to get all my stuff set before i do it. i planned on using flex tubing but wasn't sure on size 2 or 3"

I would try for slightly smaller than 3" as 3" will but up against same size snork tube, and flex tubing won't lay flat enough to connect inside the fender and then turn 90 degrees toward air box

I made the turn with flex tube but it is very tight. Plus, you have to bend out the inner fender alittle.

Yeah i think if you are using stock airbox you can make that turn. Adapting to k&n setup changed the angle and decreased space from filter housing to fender

Oh you meant attachment to snork. I get it. Yeah like i said if you use the piece that comes with the kit you dont have to beat on the inner fender but either way works. At the other end did you run flex through the pre-existing hole in fender and turn in to the airbox?

Yeah but, I had to cut out the holes like you did. The elbow that came with mine to make the turn like you were talking about wouldn't tighten down snug on the snorkel. I was gonna do it like you did but, I wouldn't work. I will eventually make a bushing or something so I can use it. Just ran outof time the other day.

I'm not showing the flex tubing in the fender because you have all seen it before blah blah blah I had to beat the inner fender lol.

Woke up this morning and relocated the sensor to fully close the box off. Went back the an old thread from STEEZE and pretty much did the same thing. I drilled a 3/4" hole in a 2" cap and then glued and silicone sealed it in with the sensor now in the middle of the cap.

And now I have a fully functioning snorkel but after the first of the year I am installing the apollo intake and will have to redo the air box part.

is the apollo that much better? i'm sure its a lot easier to do it with and its only 100 bucks.

honestly? I did the apollo because I already had a K&N open CAI. Had I still had the stock airbox, I would have done the DIY airbox mod (ditching the resonator, sealing it off, etc.) put in the K&N drop-in filter and just connected the snork to that. BUT, there is probably a minimal gain from the cone filter, and it does look cool, for what that is worth.

I really hope the tubing I ordered works out easier than what you guys had to do. Nothing against it, glad it's worked out...I just didn't think it would be that much work.

Have a "SNORT" of single malt on me for the efforts. Or should I say have a 'SNORK'...lol

It's not so much the the tubing doesn't fit it's that the 90 turn you have to make to connect to the snorkel is right where the inner fender bulges out. So you have to smash it in flat to make the turn then its still tight but possible.

Good luck to you sir. And it was nothing to stressful that a few beers couldn't fix lol

To anyone thinking the Apollo filter I have a question I just thought of.

If the stock airbox is used and a little water goes in snorkel then the water would catch in the bottom of box rather than go up through filter.

With the apollo any water comes in and goes straight to the filter.

Worst I see happening is clogging but just food for thought. I mean really only rain will hit that high most likely on your car and I don't see much of that going in.

I have sprayed a pressure washer into my snorkel. I had the bottom undone so water would drain out.. That snorkel head works really well at keeping water out. Very little went through
