Thanks! What winch did you get?

Ironman 12k.....I am gonna be drilling holes in the bumper to mount the control box....it doesn't come with a kit to mount it to the winch itself.

I heard the XRC8s are top notch! Waterproof and very well built.

But everyone always tells me to just save the money and go for a Warn. Thought? Opinions?

That winch is AWESOME, Tay!! I'd really like to have that one but the Smittybilt was easier on the wallet ;) haha

Jonny, I heard almost nothing but good things from this winch! There were a few negative reviews but it's gonna be that way with anything. For the money, and the amount of time I'm gonna use it, it should be perfect!

Thank you sir! Now you'll be the guinae pig haha it should treat you pretty good!

Dude.... Nice.

I just might have to buy this thing also. It's entirely waterproof isn't it? My buddy installed it on his jeep and he loves it. And yes, you can't beat the price! Easier on the wallet.

Very nice Casey! I have exactly the same box sitting in my kitchen waiting for me to get a bumper to install it on...lol. I wondered what the inside of that box looked like.....

I believe this one is waterproof to a degree.. The XO2 series is the completely waterproof one. I try to stay away from big mud holes and deep water crossings as much as I can so that shouldn't be a problem ;)

There's no way I could have the box teasing me and not get inside to look at it haha I'm nosey ;) I'll be tinkering with this thing all day come Wednesday haha

I just had a fellow email me asking about my skid row skids. He saw from where I'm selling my old one on Craigslist. He said he was thinking about putting some one his. I told him to come on over and join XN (the cool site ;)) we'll see!

I still haven't installed mine, maybe on my way back to Boone one day I'll stop by and have you show me what to do. Extra hands can't hurt

I gotta question for y'all... How do I attach the line to the drum?? Here's the drum and the end of the line..

I helped a buddy do one of these. If I remember correctly there is a screw that goes through that block at the end of e rope and into the drum.

On the surface, it's just round but deeper down in the hole, it looks hex.. However, a sticker on the drum pointing to it says not to remove... I'm so confused! Haha

I'm remembering a little clearly now. The screw for the end of the line is on the side of the drum right next to the spool.

I'll probably do the same once I get mine on haha whenever that maybe..

When I put it on I'm also gonna bedline the bumper some more so it needs to be a little warmer than ball freezing cold outside when I do.. I'm anxious!

I've been talking it up about wiring up the winch with the in-cab set up.. I was looking over on OTRATTW for some switches and I found these two that I like pretty well..

The V1D1BC0B -SPST OFF/ON option one of these for the power..

And the V8D2U66B option on of these for the in/operation..

Would these work and be sufficient for what I need? I want to make sure it's gonna work well before I spend about 30 bucks for 2 switches haha ;)

Thanks guys!

I appreciate that and yes! I'm probably gonna get that switch instead haha that's awesome!

I do have another question for you.. Do you know what size relay I would need or know how I could find out and also, how/where would I put the relay? Could I use the relay box that's already in the engine bay or would I need to do something seperate?

I'm sorry for all the questions but I wanna make sure I do this right and I'm wiring impared haha. I'm trying to learn more and more about it but it's a slow process haha

I'd do something outside the factory box. 20A relays will suffice for the in/out, and are fairly common. For the main power, you'll need something to handle around 60A. At that level, a solenoid may be a better choice.

I could give a better answer if there was an installation guide available.

Got the bumper off and the lights zip tied so it'll be drivable haha

It looks redneck as all get out but it'll work haha. I made some good headway on sanding the bumper. I'll finish it up tomorrow and get to touching it up where I didn't do that good the first time haha
