So then after all the fun and games at GONE, I made it back home. But, I still had the itch to wheel some more. So after meeting some guys out on the trail as I was driving back home from Moab, we camped out and then hit another trail in the morning. I say hit the trail, actually, we just created a new one.
A little different scenery than Utah
I climbed this but couldn't make the sharp turn at the top, need to work on this a little more, so I had to back down and turn around. We'll work more on this another day.
I was the only one to go up this trail since it had never been run before and we needed to test it out... none of the Jeeps wanted to do it
But, what the pictures don't show is that some of the rocks shifted a couple times and I about rolled it a couple times from the front falling into a hole. It seriously worked up my nerves. Since I have been out doing all of this stuff lately, its time to relax for a bit so I am taking a month or so off wheeling in order to focus on school and hang out with the wife and kid.
Plans for the future include installing the hydro assist setup (that I bought LAST YEAR at GONE), a roll cage (a little ways down the road, unless I flop it sooner), upgrade the stereo system, clean up the wiring, throw on some rock lights and maybe re-do the front and rear bumper to gain better approach and departure angles.
But before any of that, I need to add some transfer case gears. THis thing does well, but it just doesn't have the low down torque I would like to have for a lot of obstacles. I have my eye on a particular T-case with gears already installed with an SYE... just need to get rid of some stuff in the garage before I can pick it up (wife's orders). Also, later on down the road, I'd like to do something with the rear suspension so it can match the performance of the front; I can't do that until this thing no longer is used for DD duties and I get a tow rig.
