I had a few things done differently. I had the hoop made thicker, and lean back farther, the holes in the bumper are made to fit the stock side marker lights and stock fogs and there is a 2" receiver hitch up front as well. seeing yours was one of the main reasons I went with an RLC. now, only if I could snag one of those sweet RTTs...

If you put a RTT on that, it will be like a tree fort. Awesome.

Awesome! Thanks! I need to make sure that makes the list when I call James.

And I'm curious how he got the factory fog lights to go in? I'm in the middle of a fog light debate right now and cant decide if I want frenched in flush mount LED's, aftermarket HID projectors, or retrofitted OEM HID projectors.

If you go with a flush mount with the RLC it'll have the light projected out to the side.. Not sure if you're aware of this or that's what you're wanting haha just a heads up ;)

Which is why I said "Frenched in" you know, have the whole body of it recessed so it can be at any angle I want? In other words, facing directly down the road in front of me.

Prime, for your rig, since you are going with LEDs all around (you already have a lot, but of course could use more...), I would go with some round LED spot lights in there. They also have a better mounting point on them and are pretty adjustable.

There is certainly something to be said for that. And and option I hadn't really considered. The main reason I was thinking about going HID is because the headlights I have are so high up I have to aim them down in order to not blind the crap out of people. So I was thinking low mounted HID's would allow the light to be thrown a WHOLE lot further down range.

But, some LED spots would do the same thing.

Thanks!

I gotcha! I've never heard of the phrase, frenched in haha learn something new everyday! Anyway, I say go LED, but that's just my opinion ;)

So when do I get to see this thing in person? Can't wait...did we land on a date since you are getting schooled on the 22nd?

Also, don't even think about a RTT...if you're scared of heights! :sure:

I think I could do the weekend of the 5th and 6th if that would work. I'd prefer the 5th.

As for the RTT, I'd really love to get one, but I just don't think it's in the cards right at this moment. I would love to be able to get one though.

My 2c - I would not get a RTT for this rig. It's already tall, and it's meant to tackle some pretty serious angles. RTTs are built for where you're worried about getting eaten by what's on the ground. For better or worse, you've got yourself a legit rock monster, not an expedition rig.

But, that's just IMHO. Not for me to say you can't use it however you want

First order of business... Very nice, Cap'n... that front end looks insane. I've been keeping a close eye on the Diamond design; I may go that route someday myself. I'm really looking forward to bending your ear about it in a few months.

Second order of business... we're slowly but surely prepping Rancho Rokdaddy for an Xterra day on the 5th or 6th. We're ready to commit to that weekend as it will be our last chance to play before I have to focus my attention on my own goneMOAB prep. We have 2 or 3 bedrooms to spare and a bunch of great camp spots for anyone who wants to sleep outside in the mountain air.

I agree with Sean.. If I were driving this rig and wanted a rtt I would build a trailer..

Third order really isn't about business. It's just me throwing out my opinion on RTT's. I have a couple of friends who have them and I'm not all that impressed. Sure, you'll probably earn a bunch of brownie points on the ExPo forum if you have one but they aren't as practical as the manufacturers and retailers will want you to believe. They're stupid heavy, unnecessarily difficult to get in and out of and they seriously screw with the aerodynamics and CG of any rig that they are installed on. In my opinion, one has to be pretty scared about sleeping on the ground to want one of these. That's just my opinion though; I sleep outside a lot and could care less about ExPo brownie points.

We're looking forward to seeing y'all in April and the NM crew is obviously looking forward to meeting you and seeing your (kinda) new rig. Congrats on the newly rebuilt rig, man. I can't wait to see that monster out on the trails.

Yeah man, the Whole front end is nuts. I tweaked the coilovers yesterday so it rides a bit better now. I have yet to take it out on anything serious, but come April, I don't think I will be able to say that anymore; got quite a few trips down in the canyons planned.

And if we could do the 5th, that'd work out great for me. I know Crue was saying he'd be good with that date too. I'm going to be giving him my stock bumper then since it's already drilled for a body lift, so we can add that to the list of things to do.

And as for the RTT, the more I think about it, the more I'm not really into getting one. The X sits too high now, I have a perfectly good tent, I've also got an air mattress that fits in the back of the X (not sure if I fit though), and it's a pretty nasty hit on the wallet to snag one.

Nope. Body lift is gone. With the body lift, we might not had had to trim the fenders as much (they still would have had to be trimmed a bit) but it would have increased the COG. Tried to keep it as low as possible.

Haha, there also aren't any sway bars. Keeping the COG low keeps the tires road-side down ;) I'm about to hurt that a little though once we finish up the rear bumper and I mount that tire up there.

Thanks Danny! I may be hitting you up for some Bilsteins for the rear here pretty soon. I think shocks, an add-a-leaf pack for the rear and a winch will absolutely tap me out for the year.

You must be a hitman or something bro with all this cash.............

I applaude you with your build and abbility to convince/sneak around your wife :D

Nah man, I just saved, and saved, and saved some more and then when I thought I had enough, saved a bit more so I could build up something old with a big ass motor and 4 wheels. Never did I even consider doing this to the X until just a few months ago, hence this not having said big ass motor but instead big meats. A few deployments have helped the cause as well. Can't really buy anything but trinkets, ripped DVDs of movies recorded in the theater and Nerf guns out there, so the rest was saved or spent making the wife happy while I was gone. Also, selling the Harley helped, but damn, did that hurt. BAD!!!

The wife is ok with it all because I had already had money set aside for a purpose. So, as long as I don't dive into any funds other than these, I will come out of this with all my appendages.

Oh yeah, said Harley that was sold... I miss you 2 wheels und steel :(

Crappy night pic, but rear bumper is finished. Well, almost. I still have to put a coat of my bumper coating on it to have it match the other gray perfectly. But this primers is pretty daggum close. Sliders still have to be painted too.

I like this pic. It displays my favorite auto parts place.

Holy **** man.... that is by far the sexiest rear bumper I have ever seen... The way it looks in the wrap around... Seriously, if sliders weren't first on my armor list, this would take the top spot
