what is the use ratio of each, I like the one dave got its waterproof.

By ratio, do you mean the gear reduction ratio?

As in how many motor turns per spool rotation?

Its 150:1 for the 8k lb Smitty X2O (So it drops to ~ 59% of its rated load on the 4th wrap, etc...but with a full load on, its still pulling at a decent 10.2 feet per minute)

and 218:1 for the 10k version (So it drops to ~ 63% of its rated load on the 4th wrap, etc...a little better, but with a full load on, its pulling at a mediocre 6.1 feet per minute)

The Superwinch 10k is geared at 235:1, so with a full load on, its pulling at a leisurely 1.5 feet per minute.

(Generally, just like 1st gear vs 5th gear on your truck...the higher reduction ratios mean SLOWER recovery speeds, and a lower ratio tends to be faster.....

...but, also the same way, the winch can make more power with a high reduction ratio, and less with a low ratio....so you can go faster, but the same weight load will bog you down easier, or slower, but maintain the weight capacity)

So, for example, the 8k X20 can pull 8k lb on the first wrap, but with the spool filling, it drops to only being able to pull 4,717 lb.

The 10k drops from 10k lb down to only being able to pull 6,310 lb.

I don't have load specs handy on the Superwinch, but it speed-wise, it drops from 16 feet per minute with no load, down to 1.5' per minute loaded.

I don't know the DUTY CYCLES for these winches, but, ESPECIALLY for one with a 1.5 foot per minute recovery time...I'd be worried.

Example, you need to drag a rig mired in sucking mud about 50' to get free...at 1.5' per MINUTE.

That's over a HALF HOUR at 1.5' /min.

At ~ 10'/min, that's more like 5 minutes...a REAL difference.

So, its a "steal" if you don't mind being robbed of your TIME WHEELING.

Yeah I like the one Dave has too, If I decide to get one it will probably be that model. 4wheelparts has that winch with free shipping but it's only offered to people who live in the states :(
