So that was you with the bent TRA? I was going to ask how Steena held up...but yeah, there's two ways to learn about those stock TRAs...have one fold on you, or read about it happening to someone else!

AC UCA's, Cam bolts, Ball Joints and Bump stops installed...

Ended up using a pickle fork and a pair of old vice grips. Locked the grips under the lip of the stud head then BFHerd the fork under the grips. It finally gave in.

Next up...Torsion Bars

Noticed in your second picture you don't have an IAB on there yet. Ever planning on getting once since your upgrading to bigger and better stuff o_O?

I have one to put on BUT...there's 1 rusted on bolt that just will not give and I've tried everything. I've got really bad luck when it come to those kinda bolts, I tend to snap them. So I've been babying it. I'll geteroff sooner or later.

Those bolts that go to the idle arm mount run through the frame. I'm sure the local hardware store like Home Depo or Lowes would have bolts the same length and width if you were to snap one :(

It was great to meet you finally. I loved your rice and chicken and vegetables. My wife is still talking about the chicken. Lol. Hope Steena is back on track. She is a great looking truck. Even better looking in person.

Same here, glad you and the misus enjoyed my little contribution. Steena got me home w/o a problem, but she needs a little TLC before I put her thru something like that again. She's mad at me...lol

Try to spray it with pb blaster two days worth everytime you go to get in and out of your truck. That's what I did with my torsion bar bolts and when I got ready to work on them the locking bolt backed off about on inch.

Thanks...I had been spraying them but took a break, I'll restart soon. Got another problem to tackle now. Got a #3 misfire code, it was running really rough. Bought some new plugs...it was time anyway. Changed #3, 1,2,5...started changing #4 and the wire broke. Ran to get new wires from Autozone. Went to put socket on plug to discover the electrod broke off the wire and remaind on the plug. Called AZ to find long reach pliers...no luck. He said try this other store. Bought long nosed 8" clamp. D@mn thing isn't long enough. Found (3) 11" long reach needle nosed at HD from $17 to $20. So between plugs, wires, the clamp and the pliers tomorrow...I've spent all my next weeks money. I'm tired, pissed and haven't eaten dinner yet. But tomorrow is another day.

Bah sucks man sounds like the work I'm usually faced with. Least you have tools now if something else shady should arise. You fixed it? I hope. That nut if it gets crazy just cut it off. If your careful with a grinder you can remove the nut without damage to the threads.

Thanks for the words of encouragement and the offer to help. Believe it or not, this isn't the first time I've had this happen. Just 1st time with the X. Remember I've said I don't have the best of luck when it comes to plastic and rusted on bolts. I break things and I'm use to it, almost expect it. I just keep forgetting and when I do KARMA smacks me on the back of the head....lol. I just need the pliers and all should be good.

BUT I WILL HOLD THIS OFFER IN RESERVE !!!! .

So I get to HD for the pliers only to find out that they don't stock them anymore and that they are now stickly an online purchase only. So tomorrow I'm off to HF. They sell and have in stock a set of 16" long reach (needle nosed and hook nosed) for $12. Today REALLY SUCKED !!!!

Sucks you can't just loop some stiff wire like a coat hanger around it and tug. I imagine its larger then the socket will allow? Even just a traditional deep well socket? Yeah sucks man. I don't know what I would do in that situation. My mind keeps saying hammer a socket over it the tin electrode will bend out of the way. But, then the plug is glass so I don't know that I should recommend it. Though it would likely just crack at the electrode tip and if your replacing the plugs who cares if they end up in the trash can trashed. Other thought may be that if your really lucky it can simply thread off as most plugs have a thread off tip.

Creaftman and in turn Sears have regained my business. Craftman sells an extended length 6" spark plug socket in 3/8 & 1/2. But didn't have one in the local store. However, Sears now allows you to pay at the store for an online item and will ship it to you free.
My problem turned out to be 2 things. 1 - Part of the wire about 2" broke off as well. That stopped any standard lenght socket from reaching the plug. 2 - The plug well on #4 is soo deep and thin, it prevented the extended needle nose pliers from opening wide enough to grab the broken plug wire. Longer story short... socket will be here in 2-3 days. I'm hoping it will also make changing #6 easier.

And for all you DIYers of skids, bumpers and roof racks... Harbor Freight sells a 16 ton hydraulic pipe bender that will handle up to a 3" pipe for $169 and a 36" metal break for $229.

Oh so its a stiff wire. I kept picturing copper strands. That socket should do the job nicely.

Yeah the pipe bender is cheap I've debated picking one up till I saw the youtube videos of it pretty much kinking everything. Really need a mandrel tube bender unit for smooth bends. Wish I could do my own exhaust more then anything. The brake is nice for sheet metal but nothing more really. However, if you buy their 20 ton press you can then make a brake thru plans on the internet or someone on pirate sells them. That will do thicker material bends. I've been thinking about it would be nice for skids.

:uhhh: Well D@mn...just burst my lil bubble...hahahaha. Thought I was on the right track to remake my bumper and to make some skids...lol. I finally had a chance to look around a store today. Saw a few decent things. Lotta off brands. Saw some cheap stuff too. The bender looked ok but then again it's the first one I've looked at up close.

The biggest problem is that it is a pipe bender, not tube so they are a different diam. The kinking problem can be solved filling them with water, then fill them with sand and let the sand displace the water. The wet sand acts as a mandrell of sort. And the break is good only up to about 16g without starting to use heat, and at that point you want to use a press brake instead anyway.

ok so it sound like the break is out by popular disapprovals. The bender I didn't understand the difference until now. Pipe/tube...samething to me. I now understand the difference after doin a lil research.

Finally got the plug out and replaced. Ended up using a Phillips, wedging it in the electrod, gave it a twist and it came out. So all but #6 have new plugs and wires. At least she's running now.

Sounds like a solid fix. With mechanic work you never know how you may have to repurpose tools at times. Glad you got it out though. *mechanical skill upgraded*

Man...it's too cold out to work on this now. I still gotta order the tubing from McMaster first. Whenever it gets here we'll see.

ya, i know how ya feel. your talking about the tubing that goes from the intake box to the snorkel under the outer fender right?
