Hello All new here,
I have a 2013 Pro4X no modifications as of yet. I have been running Cooper Discoverer RTX 265/70/R16. My question is what is the largest tire I can get on this Xterra with out any modifications? I want to go with a bit more aggressive tire than what I have been running. Still have to drive it everyday to work.

Back story of me and viehical if you like. Got it brand new in Charlotte NC as a lease (this is my 3rd Xterra) drove it off road a little the Outer banks of NC the mountains... Anyway 2016 lost my job and started driving uber and lift went from 30K to 230K miles from then to last month when I found a really good job and moved to Tucson AZ. She still runs great and now I look forward to off roading in AZ and slowly building her out to be a great crawler but still have the ability to drive it everyday. SO I will be asking a lot of questions and posting pics of my progress. Thank you for your help in advance. Henry

You can fit 285/75r16 (32.5-33") tires with just the melt mod. This thread will give you all the info you need.

Personally, i think it should have come with 285s out of the factory and you will see almost no difference in driving ability.

Pro4X OE size is 265/75/16. 235/85/16 is same diameter but narrower.

285/75/16 will fit with the melt mod as mentioned and 255/85/16 is same OD but narrower.

These are the primary 16" options you can fit with minimal mods (IE melt mod).

235s and 255s are generally lighter tires and have slightly less effect on "feel" but I've run 285s for a couple years now and they are very livable with my 3.13 gears. You'll have 3.36s if you are auto and 3.69 if you're manual so you will barely notice a change even with a moderately heavier LT285 Load E tire.

Need Bigger Tires
I run the 255/85r16s, and got away without having to do the melt mod. However, it is close, and others running that tire size have had to do the mod, so I'm not sure if I just got lucky, or if my fender liners were already bumped and nudged enough before I bought it that it doesn't rub....

You can always just go with a more aggressive 265/75r16 tire if you don't want to do anything (KO2, ST MAXX, Duratrac, etc), but it does look better with the 33"s on it.

Thank you guys. I do have one other question. When I click on the "melt mod: link all of the pictures are blurry and have a photobucket stamp on them. How do I view a clear pic with out having to by that service?

It's not you, it's them. Seriously. Photobucket broke many internet forums when they asked for payment to host images. Once they backed off, we were still left with those images. It's up to the owner of the image to really fix it; we've done what we can.

Thanks for the info. Was able to uplaod an image of my X on the Outer Banks (OBX), NC near Hatteras Village. I did get it stuck to the frame once out there. Took an steep uphill left turn to sharp. Dug it down to the frame. Then remembered that I had the diff lock still no luck so I dug a little put the heavy Xterra mats out shoved them under three wheels and backed out. Fun day.
