The "Jonny" Mod!

I've never seen anyone do this yet, so I thought I'd help out and share.

This idea literally came from me just lying down and not being able to sleep. No thoughts on my X or modding whatsoever.

Yes, randomly... :)

With rack accessories, gun racks, safes, gas caps, etc... Keys are a doozie when it comes to keeping track as well as placement. Most people put it on their key ring, but I like minimalism and keeping the rattle to a minimum. Plus, it can be a TAD annoying to keep turning the engine on and off... Agreed?

Introducing the "Jonny Mod". Real simple, easy, practical, and efficient!

Grab your "secondary" keys on the go, or when you're in a pinch for your shovel, hi lift, or off road accessory with a lock.

Mine is decorated with a highly visible pull tab I use to use for rappelling, dog tag, and a little light. Later on (with more additions) Im going to add keys and such for gas cap, mounts, etc.

UPDATE(S):
-I took off the lanyard. I plan on getting/making a smaller one (Got in the way of turning left).
-Look into thinner and lighter rings to keep it suspended on the magnet.
-Possibly look into a stronger magnet.
-I like the placement, but scared of it flying out if my X with the window down.
-Possible placement could be on the B Pillar (suggested by J Everett)

Also, if any Mods read this, I don't know where this would've gone, so I just made it in the general purpose thread in 2000-04s.

Awesome idea, but I think I would prefer it on the B-pillar instead of the A-pillar. Still, it's a great idea, and you can put it wherever you want.

Wow, that would annoy the piss out of me. I can't stand the clanking of keys that I have the Ignition key on Its on ring and the rest come off with a carabineer that are tossed in the center console.

If I could tolerate he noise, I would put the extra keys on a carabineer and hook it to one of the overhead tie downs in the rear.

one thing id be worried about would be someone pushing my window down enough to get there hand in and just grabbing the keys and stealing my stuff.

The clanking isn't bad. I'm used to it plus I play music everywhere I go.

I didn't think if the whole theft situation. Maybe a slight relocation would be best.

Center console is good, but I want somewhere to grab when on the fly with windows down. I mean yes, a few seconds in the center console isn't a big deal, but that's ruin the structure of this mod. :)

I keep one set of my lock keys on my key ring and then I have the second set in my center console so I can unlock all my stuff without turning off the truck.

I had a fairly similar solution for my keys.
Being an Eagle Scout i like to keep everything on me.

I keep mine in the slot behind the shifter beneath the radio.

So while at work i sorta ran away with the idea..

I managed to break the driver side visor, so in it's place is a big magnet, bolted to the original hole. It's big enough to hold just over 1Lb of keys and a pen. I can't say it's rock-solid, but i do use it alot, and they hardly ever fall.
