Why is fishing interesting? Because I dont get it. I used to fish with my grandfather when I was little. And have been a few times since he died in the late 80s. I have done the fishing for your food thing too. Like 20 years ago. That I understand. Catch your dinner. Done. OK.

But catching a fish just to let it go and catch another one just seems silly.

It's practice. When fishing becomes a necessity, I have an advantage.

Jk

It's fun.

It's solitary stress relieving time. Plus it's fun to trick dumb fish.

Or to be outwitted by said "dumb" fish.

Besides, it is you, nature, a stream or lake, solitude, relaxation, frustration, and coming to terms that it is called fishing, not catching fish (that's just a bonus).
That's only if you don't take kids along, if you do take kids it's usually the opposite for me. I end up untangling lines, rebaiting hooks, and about the time my line hits the water I need to take a fish off the kids line.

What could you say about fishing..............
It's a jerk on one end waiting for a jerk on the other !! Lol
All fish are in fact female , here's the reasoning..........
While standing/sitting or laying down with your rod in your hand:eek:they will rub against your line to let you know they are there but that's it , they nibble around the bait your dangling in front of them just to tease you , some time's they take your bait and run away never to be seen again , other time's you think it's a keeper till you get it home and realize you ufcked up:confused::( and finally............ if they would have keep their mouth shut they would have never been caught !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All kidding aside it's a great way of spending time with my 81 year old father who was a full time Commercial Fishermen [ Oyster-soft shell clam - Crab - Striped bass ] Now he Commercially Hook and line fishes in Md and Fla.
What could be better then being outside on a boat [ at least for me ] in the Chesapeake/off shore O.C./Outer bank's or down in the Key's:)
Stress relief and working on a tan.

I totally get that last part. I love being in boats. And spending time with family is what lots of things are about.

I love being on the water. I have fished before, not very often. If I have to rely on my fishing skills to survive, I will die.

Those are the sacrifices I made to deploy and see the world it’s all good. Just going to make my first beer ( or scotch) that much better when I get home. Plus makes it a lot cheaper to get drunk then lol

Me a 3 buddies in boot were going to the same base for A school. We made a pact that no one would drink till we got to school and the first Friday we had liberty we would donate blood then spend the money at the bar.

I have never been so drunk on 4 draft beers in my life
