The F150 has a 10 speed.

These damn things are shifting themselves to death! We'd be better off if they'd just build a heavier duty CVT. No wonder everyone is having transmission failures at 100k and doing "lifetime fills" on them. They're just cooking themselves...

Still drinking coffee. I've usually quit by 8am but on this "diet" I've been plowing through till 10ish then switching to water till lunch.

May have found the trailer I want for our overlanding. Gonna call about it Friday and try to go grab it. 3.5x5.5 Lowes landscaping trailer.

I'd be all for a CVT that actually worked. The technology is brilliant. They just aren't being built for heavy loads. Or even small loads.

Speaking of CVTs. All Nissan cars (save the Z and the GT-R) are now equipped with CVT transmissions. Yet they still have things like "manual mode" and they simulate shift points. It's ufcking stupid! It's a CVT! It doesn't shift! But that's how they program them. Which is one reason I think they fail so often. The load change of "shifting" a CVT is something they're not designed for. They're designed for smooth engagement all along the cones. It's ufcking dumb.

Agreed. They should have never given in and added the fake shifts. My wife’s 2010 Altima was before they did that. Very smooth. It has over 150k now with no issues what so ever.

That said, I still hate driving it even though I like the concept. We need to sell it lol.

Really? My 07 Altima had the manual mode (or did they do something stupid and make it pretend to be an automatic transmission with shifts????). That being said, it was still useless. I was used to driving a stick, and being able to downshift was nice for slowing down at times and in certain conditions, but the stupid thing would take it more as a recommendation than a "hey, change gears now" type of thing. If I ever tried to downshift where it would push the RPMs to like 3500, it would be all like "nope, aint gonna go down right now, you can just wait until I think it is safe to do so". And it didn't "shift" fast enough on acceleration to be worth it, you were better off to just peg the throttle and let it hold the engine at the sweet spot.

CVT transmissions are straight hot funky garbage. Ex Wifes in the Ford 500, failed at 95k. buddies wife's failed in her Altima at 99k. Department ford 500 same shiat. Absolutely the worst ufcking transmission I have ever experienced in LIFE.

The problem with the Nissan ones was quality control. The story I got from my buddy who's a master tech was that the 2007ish-2016 transmissions were made by a company called Japco. They were hot garbage. Nissan was pissed. So they bought Japco which put Nissan in charge of quality control. Supposedly the 2017s and newer are much better.

Thats good to know. I have avoided any car that has remotely had anything CVT related in it because of the premature failures and super high rebuild costs.

Too many people coming back in complaining about their transmission "slipping" because people are stupid ufcking apes who don't accept change...

I think it was 2011 they programmed them to “feel” like a regular automatic with gears and fake shift. Completely defeats the entire purpose of cvt

We've test driven the Murano and Pathfinder and I love the CVTs in those behind the VQ35. I think they're are a great idea and as they develop the technology they'll improve.

The first 700R4s (4L60) were junk at best but everyone is all about them now that they worked out the kinks. They are one of the longest runs and most widely used transmissions GM ever built. But the first couple years they were HORRIBLE.

And you never hear about the ones that go 150k without issue like the Sentra a guy I work with has. Hell, he bad mouthed CVTs for a long time till I pointed out he had one...

My wife's 6spd Auto in her Malibu recently cooked itself at 140k. And Jeeps 7 and 8 speed in the Cherokee is just as much junk as any of them. We're pushing progress without the development investments right now. "Let the techs figure it out" is corporate policy...

Fast diet? That one actually worked well for me but had trouble coordinating what I could eat with the rest of the family

Intermittent fasting. Eat my daily calorie allotment from 12pm-7pm then fast till the next day. Tough because I love breakfast but I'm making it. I don't eat breakfast or usually lunch with my family so it's not a big deal to maintain but I do regularly go to breakfast with a buddy on Fridays.

They call it the 16-8 schedule but they also say that just fasting two full days a week and maintaining a regular meal schedule the other 5 will provide the same results.

I dunno... I am a stress eater so this helps with total calorie intake. I can eat two larger meals a day and feel really full with just 1500 calories.

Salad for lunch again today. Thankfully I really like a good salad. Even without dressing. It's sitting in front of the TV after dark when I snack that I'm working on putting a stop to.

Its sitting in front of the TV after dark with a glass of delicious bourbon and a bowl of popcorn that affects my weight most I think.

The bourbon I budget for. Last night I kept grabbing chocolates for some damn reason. Need to budget that crap as well I guess.
