You silly people. Just be like Reaver......own both! Problem solved!

Then, if you're lucky, you train your wife well, when she decides to buy her own toy, you try to convince her to get a 2nd gen, and she says "F-U", and buys a 1st gen.

My job here, is complete.

Husband has always hated my Xterra. He’s a square body guy. Ugh!

Anyone got votes for a new engine?

Oh I didn’t mean that I’m getting rid of her. She’s not going anywhere. I meant what new engine: LS or Toyota?
Easy is another VG series. I wonder if the dual OHC VG30DE has the same pilot bearing/bellhousing bolt pattern. hrmm.....It should as the transmission is the same as the one in the Z32 (at least for the manual it is).

If you want to go 'Murican then I think it'd have to be all custom. There's a few LS kits for 2nd gen's out there, but I haven't seen anything for 1st gens. There's always the diesel option. TD27T was the engine available in the 1st gen in South America.
Oddly enough? Yes. A agree. I think If I was going to swap a 1st gen/early Pathy, I'd do it with a 302. Not because they're cheaper or in any way superior to the LS, but because I know them inside and out. I know how to rebuild them, I know how they connect, the later FI cars fire at 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, it's just my comfort zone. I've seen an LS but never laid hands on one.

302 is simple American iron, don’t know about adapting it to Nissans trans but getting one to run is easy, even with fords efi (87-96 f series) easier to keep cool than an ls, won’t make ls power but it’s a big upgrade from a vg

I wasn’t a fan of a lot of his craftsmanship but he did get it to work, probably just a lot of things that are gonna seem shoddy when swapping a first gen
