Ok I'm getting the bass once some of my commissions from work come in. Now a proud Papa moment my kid who is my 3rd by the way picked up an instrument for the first time 2 years ago during covid. Her first music classes were all virtual got invited to play with the high school band this year. At the regional they scored higher than they ever had and now is invited to play with the high school vanguard marching band. She's going into 8th grade. I'm not sure whether to be proud or jealous that she has picked up music so quick. I have spent the better part of 20 years trying to be pretty crappy at music!!

Stupid kids!
That's ufcking awesome!

ufcking shiat. Walking on a trail up at the top of the hill between me and where @Brunnie is. Terrain changed. Rolled my ufcking ankle. The one that just started feeling better. Fell. Spilled my drink. Scraped my knee and elbow. ufcking ankle hurts again. Still almost 2 miles from home.

shiat is going to hurt tomorrow.

Ever have the urge to buy shiat just to buy shiat!

Crabby knows this but I'm a really shiatty bass player and I already have 3 basses but really want to buy a new Yamaha bass. I dont need another one I really only play two of the ones I have, but I have had Yamaha bike and they are really good my 13 year old has a Yamaha keyboard and is getting ready to join her high schools vanguard and she is going to need a better clarinet for that and Yamaha is the brand everyone says buy... so I should just get me a Yamaha bass too right?

I'm looking for help justifying this to the wife BTW. I mean the clarinet gonna set me back a grand or so, so 400 on the bass is cool right?

If it makes you happy you should have it

Thanks man. I'm not looking forward to the commitment from the parents side. She starts "marching practice" long before summer is out.
I get it. Mine are too young for that yet. But I did band in middle/high school. It was high demand.

I stopped at marching band @ 10th grade

Just had an encounter with a DougCo Sherrif corporal. I got walked over. Ran my shiat and told me that there was a suspicious person walking around the neighborhood.

Still walking with my ufcking ankle.

There were 5 dudes in a TJ literally feet from where I was stopped. They looked super ufcking nervous.

I mentioned it to the corporal. He said that he saw them and that they were his next conversation.

If I can afford it, I do it. I don't need to discuss it or justify it with anyone. Another reason I'll never get married again.
This is the way.

Except, it has made me very in love with my solitude. I ate spaghets in my underwear while watching UFC with a drink in my hand this weekend. And I didnt have to justify my slack-a-dasical ways to anyone. I honestly dont know how Ill share space with another human again.

I could rant about how marriage is a scam slanted towards and in favor of the woman, but its likely I just never met the right one.

Maybe.
