Brussle sprouts roast them with sweet potatoes, red onions, and red bell peppers. Put over greens with feta cheese and a dressing made from 3 parts olive oil, 2 parts balsamic vinegar, and 1 part maple syrup.

The proper way to prepare brussel sprouts, as taught to me by my father and taught to him by his father, is to quarter them, smear bacon grease on them, cover them with bacon, and place them on an oak board. Put in the oven at 500 degrees for 4 hours. When done baking, throw them into the trash and eat the board. :D

It would be 1 thing if my oldest was able to help with and hang out, tu the provincial government has shut down in person schooling here until the 25th at least so my son need to do his grade 1 schoolwork during the day and that means I am stuck teaching grade 1 lessons all day

Yeah. I have three from 3rd to 8th grade. My evenings and days off are helping them and making sure they're doing EVERYTHING.

Fingers crossed they go back Tuesday. Even part time would be a help. This is mentally exhausting for us. The wife has had her vaccine and I signed up to get mine through work yesterday. I guess being the only major employer in the county means getting to bypass waiting lists to protect your profit margins but maybe it'll clear stuff up enough we can get back to "normal" soon.

I am fairly low priority for the vaccine here even if I am a medic. Just coming back from deployment makes me not deployable for the next couple months ( unless SHTF). So. Need to wait u too I go back to work and get in line like the rest of the troops

I was just about to say, I’ve only eaten one Brussels sprout that I liked - it was also seared in bacon grease and topped with bacon.

The only thing I miss about being in Bethlehem is the Bayou.

For those who weren't around when I've talked about it before, The Bayou is a southern style / Cajun restaurant in Bethlehem PA

I don't know where you're at in this disease but the best rec I can give is to get a pump. I was out of control (insulin dependant) for 12yrs until I got one and was under control for two years solid until the transplants in '08. I wish I'd have had one in the begining.

Stepped on a scale for the first time since I don’t know when. Came in 15-20 pounds over where I assume I was at when I stopped doing any lifting or biking after wiping out on the bike in October. Which was still probably 10-15 over where I’d like to be. Going to severely cut back on the beers except for my birthday in a couple weeks, and try to do what I can for carbs as well. Historically for me exercise has been more important than diet, so going to really try to get motivated to get back into that as well.

Thinking it would be good to do the thing where I pick a project for the X that is theoretically (relatively) quick and painless but ends up taking all day, and involves throwing body weight in to unbolting something. Don’t eat much on those days and end up more sore for longer than whenever I work out.

The only scale I'm stepping on are the one's on the floor after cleaning some fish ! :D I don't think I wanna step on the other scale especially since I don't really do much physical work over the winter. I do tend to drop 8-15lb's over the summer crab season though. ;) The weight return's as a Xmas present each year

I have had good luck with banaba, gymnema and alpha lipoic acid. They were recommended to me by several other diabetics when I started my diabetes 'adventure', and I could see the results on my meter. I credit them with keeping me off insulin for the last 10 years.
